Another war movie I liked, though it is a little slow, is "The Bridge at Remagen," about the famous incident toward the end of WWII when the Germans failed to demolish the last bridge over the Rhine trying to forstall the Allies from getting into Germany proper.

The Great Escape, Saving Private Ryan, The Guns of Navarone, Tora, Tora, Tora, The Patriot, The Battle of Britain, The Man Who Never Was, and several others which are not coming to mind at the moment. These are not in any particular order either.
