Posts from Hawkswill in thread „Dances with Wolves (1990)“

Was almost finished answering this Irish when it disappeared...DANG.
Anyway, I was one of the ones who PMed RK, and he answered me in a short period of time. He is unabashedly patriotic and loves his country. Anyway, he meant nothing derogatory and he certainly DID start off a most interesting conversation full of info I had not been previously aware of. Most enlightening conversation between Peridot and Tennessean. If you haven't read it, suggest you do. Here is the link where it all begins:
http://www.dukewayne.com/showthread.php?p=117821#post117821 If Peridot's post doesn't show up where Keith said he "approved it", just click on it. Oh, one thing interesting, I am it seems a great deal of American Indians actually prefer the term Indian to Native American. And, as my aunt lived in Brunswick, Ga, I am most familiar with the shell mounds and the use of them to pave roads a while back. Also, read RK's post later on. He is a good guy, I believe.
Last day of GW! New choice out tonight! Hope yall like it. Big responsibility trying to choose something that lasts a whole month! Couldn't get one with Ward that wasn't a western....not that would hold up to intense conversation which is what I hope we will have. CYA later Irish! Keith

Americans like most peoples ancestors have done things in the past they would rather forget, no nation or state is perfect and the founding of most contains some blood shed and incidents that are unsavory. To suggest otherwise would be extremely ignorant. Too simply define something as anti-american is too simplistic and does not take into account all the facets that make up the nation, as I am sure to be American means many things too many different people and that most of the members here hold dear such values.

Mornin' Keith, (in my part of the world),

Not quite sure what you meant by "Peridot under moderation and has been for some time". But, I DO believe that Peridot, or Ramona, is a female, LOL.
I don't believe I asked for an explanation of the board decisions, but maybe that is not what you meant. I simply thought that Mona might have PMed RK, as I wrote in my post...RK, not a Mod....to perhaps work out with him the post in question. Thought I read that somewhere we should try to work out your differences.............probably just made it up in my mind.
I was confused by your post...thought everyone knew Peridot was Ramona and a big fan of Richard Boone and Leonard Nimoy. Anyway, still confused, but I don't suppose it matters. Glad her post was left as it sparked a most interesting conversatation between her and Russ, Tennessean. Nice to see that sort of thing. Learned a great deal from it.
Thanks for your post, confusing to "dumber than a rock me", as it was.
    The Other Keith

LOL Russ, I am German, English, Irish, and, we believe, part Cherokee. My grandfather was born in far northeastern NC near the VA border, in a little town named Norlina. I believe the Cherokees left with their brothers when driven out from Dahlonega, Ga around 1835 or so because of the gold strike....not sure though. A friend now lives in Norlina, and I hope to find time to do a "little digging" on one of my visits. Pop was born in 1890 and used to tell me of our Indian blood when I was young.

Yep, good to hear some real discussion, and apparently you are both well versed in the subject. Russ you amaze me more and more every day on your knowledge of such a vast amount of subjects! Enjoy it thoroughly! Keith

AHHHH, this is the kind of thing that I thought this board was all about. Discussing, agreeing, disagreeing and talking about it. My, nice to find that it DOES exist instead of just things like "High Noon", "hot and rainy", etc. Good for you Russ and Ramona. Although, think I would have written RK a PM first before posting to the Mod. If you did......must not have gotten a nice answer. Did you? Just wondering. I remember a big to do a while back when it was just a kidding type thing.

Russ....didn't know you were a breed!.......Just joking.......I am Indian also.....grandfather was Will Keith Hawks!

Fun, enjoyed reading some interesting and knowledgeable input! Keith

My post disappeared. Oh well. I was told by a knowledgeable person that it was a must see and was quite authentic. I would love to see the extra stuff, although, like Gorch, not sure I would remember what is extra. Keith
