Posts from Gorch in thread „Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)“

I'm not a huge fan of this movie for various reasons, foremost of which that Redford can't act. His voice is annoying and somehow sounds off key to me. He was better in Jeremiah Johnson because he didn't talk as much.
The music also annoys me and yet this film won Academy Awards for Best Song and Best Soudtrack. I think the Academy members got confused and voted for the hugely popular song. That cruddy music for the Bolivian bank robbing montage should removed from all prints.
When Butch crotch kicks Harvey, the scene is sped up and looks like a Max Sennett move; same with Butch scrunching his face at the bull.
On the plus side is some snappy, albeit anachronistic, dialog; Strother Martin; and a rousing shootout near the end.
I might watch this again some day, but not like I'd look forward to like Searchers, Red River, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, or Alamo.

    We deal in lead, friend.
