Carl - I hope that your move is a smooth one with few trepidations. I'll be placing prayers for you with the man upstairs that all goes well with you down the road. I'm glad you're getting out of the Houston area - a fair place to visit??!!, but I wouldn't want to live there!

It's so great to hear from you, Carl. Glad to hear you had a good Christmas and am hoping next year will be a much better one for you. Hang in and looking forward to hearing from you soon, my Houston friend.

I got to meet Carl yesterday late afternoon in person. He had been released from the hospital and he and his sister were heading back to Corpus. They stopped off en route and I got to visit with them for about 15 or 20 minutes. Carl wasn't going to get out of the car since he was kinda patched up, but he was in good spirits. I passed on everyone's best wishes. He hopes to get back on the internet really soon and join in with everybody here.

Just to let everyone know - Carl went through surgery yesterday (Thursday) and did fine. I talked to him on the phone this afternoon (I'm not going to get to visit him as at first planned) and he said he was in pain when he woke up yesterday evening and through this morning. When I talked to him, he was taking pain medication which helped.
He expects he'll be released tomorrow sometime and will head back to Corpus Christi.

Hi Folks, I went back there and found my cat, but he was on the 2nd storey roof. I tried to get him to come down by coaxing him with food for about an hour but, no dice. This cat was too scared to come down and I think I know why? I have a neighbor who lives upstairs with his Brother-which was two doors down from mine. This guy was always stamping at him and yelling or making hissing noises or throwing beer bottles at him.
I asked maintenance to see if I could please borrow a ladder from them so I could get the cat and I was lied to by them saying that their 2 storey ladder was at another property. The thing is, on the way in, I saw the ladder leaning against another building not far from mine.

I hope your cat is OK. Mine turned 17 weeks old last Friday and are a bundle of laughs and joy - they cheer my wife up to no end!
It's possible that with the apartment's personnel the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. I think I'll make a couple of voodoo dolls resembling your neighbors and stick pins in them!:laugh:

    Yes, Carl -
Keep me updated. Strangely enough, Northwest Baptist Hospital is one of the few medical facilities in San Antonio I am not familiar with (Southeast Baptist I know like the back of my hand), but no problem. Let me know.

I think we got very lucky both days with these tornadoes. I remember when Jerrell, TX, got wiped off the map by tornadoes. Jay is more closer to Tornado Alley than I am.

I am, Carl, but still on the fringe. Go a little ways north, though, and you're getting into country that is more likely to see tornadoes frequently on an annual basis.
    Cheers - Jay:beer:

Carl - I'm glad you're OK. I saw on the news that a tornado was reported in Corpus, but would not have thought it was that close to you. I think that situation calls for a drink to settle the nerves, be it root beer or something stronger!
    Cheers - Jay:beer:

Carl - you get better, you hear!! Haven't had a cold myself, yet. But with all the fronts moving down at this time of year, my arthritis and back problems kick up every time one of those things approaches.
    Cheers - Jay:beer:

    Hi Folks -
Let me join in with Carl in thanking all for their thoughts and prayers. Here in San Antonio, all we got was something of a breeze out of Rita and, being on the side where the hurricane's outflow was sinking, a lot of heat. <_<
I feel for the people on the Texas - Louisiana border that got the direct impact of Rita, but am thankful the damage in Galveston and Houston wasn't as bad as expected. This is just one of nature's manifestations that all you can do is try to get out of the way and hope for the best!
    Cheers - Jay

    Hi Carl -
You'll be in all our prayers. Last word has the storm aiming for Matagorda Bay which will put it roughly halfway between you and Galveston. If it does, you'll be on the western side of the eye and so the winds will be blowing out to the Gulf and not coming in from the water (if that's any consolation). This will put Galveston in major harms way, since it will be east of the center and the winds will be blowing in from the Gulf and cause massive flooding.
The local news has announced an evacuee center at McCreless Mall just off IH-37 which is only 5 blocks from my house. The place is almost empty since H-E-B, who purchased the property, has closed most of the place up in anticipation of building a superstore there.
Hang on friend - Jay -_-

Thank you Smokey and Carl for the kind thoughts. We take things pretty much one day at a time and roll with the punches, so to speak. I am amazed at the many kindnesses shown by all on this board. I feel I have made many new friends here and it is most heartening!!
    Thanks - Jay :D

Thank you Viper, Keith, Stumpy & Smokey for all the kind thoughts and wishes. Your words mean a lot since I feel I've developed some close friendships with so many on the JW Board. Stumpy, I agree - it hurts me a lot when my better half has pain (which is most of the time). She is not only the love of my life, but my best friend. Smokey, be assured I look over her the best way I can, not that I couldn't take a backside womping from you, but it wouldn't be necessary in this instance. Viper and Keith - your words provide me with that extra element of strength that can get me though the day.
    Thanks folks - Jay :)
