Posts from Stumpy in thread „Gran Torino“

I know I'm suppose to keep and open mind,,, haven't seen it yet. will have to think about it a little more... like seeing the reviews you all have given. will get back to you when I see it next week at my daughters house..

Please don't have any small children or grandparents watching with you.

Planning to watch tomorrow night. So must look out for naughty words!!

    Hey Mike,
I wouldn't plan on having any small children, your wife (if she's easily embarrassed) or your grandparents around when you watch it.

This morning I shut the door to my bedroom so my granddaughter couldn't hear all the filthy language, put it on my computer and finished watching the entire film. IMO, "The Shootist" is a thousand times better than this movie. If this is Clint's last, he sure could have gone out in better style than this. I didn't much care for the redneck character he played, even though he finally accepted his next-door neighbors as the human beings they were.

Today I began watching "Gran Torino" but turned it off after about 30 minutes because I got tired of listening to all the filthy language. So far I'm much less than impressed despite all the rave reviews this film is getting.

I'd always heard "opinions are like noses, everybody's got one."

You obviously socialize with a higher class of people than Eric does, Sue.:wink_smile:

    P.S.
I've heard and used both expressions.

I found that the Profanity level is almost outrageous.

Unfortunately, profanity is present in not only most movies nowadays but even many TV programs. As a military retiree, I've heard it all at one time or another but even I get sick of watching movies where about every third word starts with "F".

The wife and I kept five grandkids during their spring break last week. I have an extensive film library so it was no problem keeping them entertained. One of the 12-year-old grandsons wanted to watch the movie "Stop-Loss", which contains profaniity of the worst kind but which, IMO, is a very good movie. After talking it over with the wife, I told him he could watch it, since I'm sure he's heard every cuss word there is in school anyway.

Unless kids are home schooled, you can almost bet money they've heard plenty of dirty language.
