Posts from ethanedwards in thread „IMPORTANT:- YouTube- Reminder/Request“

About the video removed, perhaps it would be useful to create a post that would indicate these videos and allowing authors to correct it by giving a new link or by removing the existing invalid link.

Romy,
We have asked for the author's too check their links,
and have met with no response.
It would be too time consuming for the admin team
to check each individual link, as indeed I tried,
but quite frankly had enough after a couple of hours!
There seems no requirement for another thread highlighting this problem,
as indeed, this is the the reason for this one.
I also have reposted Chester's initial post making the same point.

There is nothing to stop us posting on YouTube,
but what is a shame is that when the links become dysfunctional
it makes the contents of our YouTube forum look poor!
Hopefully to avoid this, we may periodically
need to go back over our uploads, check them
and if necessary seek a new source for the video

There are more and more YouTube videos vanishing from our posts,
as YouTube get hot on copyright infringement.
They are being threatened by Studios and TV companies
to clamp down on copyrighted material,
and you will note when uploading to YouTube that it warns of this.

YouTube
Important:

Do not upload any TV shows, music videos, music concerts or advertisements without permission, unless they consist entirely of content that you created yourself.

The Copyright Tips page and the Community Guidelines can help you determine whether your video infringes someone else's copyright.

By clicking "Upload Video", you are representing that this video does not violate YouTube's Terms of Service and that you own all copyrights in this video or have authorisation to upload it.

Please be warned, in some cases whole accounts are being deleted when in violation

May I suggest when uploading any video to YouTube
you check periodically to see if the link is still functional,
and if not try and source another one.
As a result of this clamp down,
our YouTube sub-forum is currently looking a little 'sick'

I have not found the answer to this question: can we not put a video that would have saved on a personal server?
Thank you in advance

Not as far as I know, as the system needs an URL.
can you not upload the personal video to YouTube, or Flickr
or another host that would then enable an URL,
and then place it here?

Just to remind members, many of the YouTube videos are
for whatever reason, no longer available.
I have deleted ones I am aware of,
and would appreciate members notifying me here, of any others
they notice have gone.
I am afraid it makes the sub-forum look very 'sick'
but there is little point having links that are dysfunctional.

If members wish to post new workable links to any that have been deleted
please make new posts accordingly

Just out of curiosity, Keith, can you not delete the dysfunctional YouTube posts yourself?

Jim, I can delete, any of them,
and so of course, can the originating poster.
However, Chester's and my aim, is to give the opportuinty,
for the member, to re-instate, maybe with a different link,
of then maybe delete.

The problem will be, there are so many, now dysfunctional,
that it would make the whole YouTube forum look poor.

Just to remind all posters in the YouTube forum,
that although the post might show a picture,
the link to the Video, in a lot of threads is not working
Will all the members who have posted Videos,
please check your YouTube threads to see if they are still fuctional!

As per Chester's request.
I have been looking through the YouTube threads, and there are more and more
that are not available, various reasons.
If the posters of such, can edit them it, would be appreciated,
as the YouTube Sub-forum, could turn into a 'ghost' one!!
