Posts from SXViper in thread „What I am doing today --- enjoying etc“

After averting a disaster this week( long story short, we had warm temps which started melting the snow rapidly and I had a drain tile in 1 or our egress windows clog up and the pit filled up with water, we had water just come up to the window and get into our basement, damp but not soaked carpet and the drywall is ok), I will be taking it easy. I do have to work this evening but I will get a day off next week. Maybe I will try and put up a ceiling fan....the joys of home ownership!!!

Hello All SX I hope it's August however October can be a nice start to a new home. Hope your stress is minimum and remember a beer on you with the crew every Friday for 1 ( happy ) Hour does good things for morale on site. ps the with as in with the crew is more important then the cold beer in a cooler with exactly two per worker ( crew only others bring their own. No food and mobile within an hour then -- no domestic reprecussions will ensue.

That sounds like a great idea. Thanks Murray.

    Hey Hondo, good for you......

As far as my move goes, it will be awhile, we still have to sell our house and then build the new house. So it will be at the very least 6 months from now, Probably more like 8-10 months to be realistic.

Our land is about 6 miles south of us on the outskirts of an even smaller town called Elgin, MN. So our kids will not be changing schools and we don't have to have big moving trucks or anything as drastic as that.

As far as an employee of Big Blue living in a small town. I do service for them so I don't need to be at a IBM location to do my work. That being said, my office is located at the IBM Rochester, MN location and that is about 22 miles from where I live in Plainview. IBM Rochester is the home of IBM's largest facility under 1 roof, there are bigger sites but the building in Rochester is the biggest under 1 roof. There claim to fame is the Sys 36, 38 and AS/400 systems and related software. Our new home will actually be closer to Rochester.......We used to live in Rochester but we wanted to raise our kids in a small town and you get more of a house for alot less once you move out of the Rochester, MN vicinity.

Today, I am cleaning out my computer room. We are getting ready to start selling our house. So we are trying to make our house look like it has more room in it by cleaning out stuff.

In case you are wondering, this is a planned sell. We bought some land awhile ago and we are looking to build a house. Tough economic times be damed, it has been our plan for quite awhile so we are moving forward with it. This is not fun either!!

Wow, a S&S motor!!! You better be careful!!

Take it easy and have fun. I cannot imagine riding a bike out west in the great wide open. Maybe someday......someday.

Right now I am catching up on the forum. Heading back to Atlanta at the end of the month. Thinking about my coming weekend, I have my grandparents 70th wedding anniversary. I am also thining about if I won the lottery!! hehehe!!

Just got back from running 2 miles. I am training to run a relay with my brother for a 1/2 marathon. I run 6.5 miles and he run's 6.5 miles. Now that makes this 42 year old feel much older. Bright side is it is finally starting to get much much easier.

I imagine the pols are much more at fault for the state of our economy than corporate America, Todd.

I see what you are saying. I just wish they would stop this once a month layoff trend we are in and get it done with so a person can move on. Whether it's to continue thier job or go look for a new one someplace.

Right now I am drinking a Captain and Coke. Damn big BLUE laid off another 250 people. It's getting to be a end of month ritual. I wonder why they don't just get it over with and lay off everyone they plan on laying off and let the rest movie on!! Damn corporate america!!!:martini_shaken:

I woke up this am to my son, how do I say this, he was throwing up from the wrong end!! So I got to stay home with a ill child. Then when my wife came home I went for a 2 mile run. I am in training for a relay with my brother, we are running a 1/2 marathon relay in July. So I run 6.5 miles and he runs 6.5 miles. It is just about killing me!! That is what I have been up too lately.
