I also grew upon his German voice and when I switched to original versions in the early 80's (homevideo made it possible) it took a while to get used to his real voice :).
Same with Clint, who has a somewhat 'harder' voice in Germany.
But Wayne's German versions were excellent (except for THE WAR WAGON, where he has a ludicrous voice - and Kirk Douglas is dubbed by Marquis, the usual Wayne-voice!)
