The other day I bought Goldfinger and Thunderball on Blu-ray. To me, the two best Bond movies ever, and I like most of them. Also bought Season 4 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Watched a few of the episodes yesterday with a couple of grandsons. I don't even have the first three seasons yet, but I'll get them.

They were priced a good price so--I picked up two newish movies about the Roman Legions. I THINK one was called; The Eagle??? I forget the other name. One has someone by the name of Colin Firth?? in it--the other has Donald Sutherland in it.
The one with Colin Firth in it sounds like The Last Legion. I haven't seen it, though I think I did see the end of it while scanning channels. And Karl, sounds like you've never heard of Firth. He's been around for quite awhile. Just last year, I think he won a Academy Award for best actor from The Kings Speech.

A vidoe store near me is going out of business, so I went over there to see what they were selling. Found a Chinese made war movie called 1911. It takes place around that year and is about the Chinese people revolting against the Quing dynasty which was led by the last emperor of China, that little kid. Jackie Chan stars in it, playing a Chinese officer who decides to fight for the revolution. Don't know if it's any good, but it sounded good. Only paid $10 for it in Blu-ray.

Last movie I bought was The Avengers. If you haven't seen it, you should, it's very good. All those Marvel superheroes on one screen is nothing but a whole lot of fun. Probably one of the better and more entertaining movies I've seen this year.

Bought The Ten Commandments on Blu-ray the other week and also ordered some other, lesser known Charlton Heston movies from Amazon - Treasure Island, Proud Men, Mother Lode and a few others. When they all arrive I know what I'll be doing that weekend!
Hondo, when you see The Ten commandments on screen, you'll be blown away. Picture is amazing and the color is out of this world.

bought four new Blu-ray releases today. They are, Hondo, John Carter, Journey 2 The Mysterious Island, and Act Of Valor. Gave them all a little preview to see how they looked. Hondo looks simply gorgeous. In the opening scene when Hondo is walking up to the Lowe ranch as he gets closer, right up to the screen, it looks like he's going to walk right into your living room. I might put it on later and watch the whole thing. The others also looked quite good and I'm looking forward to watching them all the way through.

Hi Jim, many nice movies there. You will enjoy The Great Raid. Can you please let me know how The Green Lantern turns out? Its one of my all time favorite Comic Book characters. Speaking oif, I just bought an animated Green Lantern movie called: First Flight-which tells of how Hal Jordan became Green Lantern.
Karl, my wife and I saw Green Lantern at the theaters when it first came out. My wife didn't like it much, I thought it was ok. Then a couple of weeks ago, it was on HBO and I caught part of it and thought it was much better than I originally thought. It to, tells how Hal Jordan became Green Lantern and if you watch it, let the credits run all the way through, because they show a scene that leaves the door open for a sequel. I also read the comic books as a kid and enjoyed them. One thing they do have in the movie that I don't know if they had in the comics is that there are thousands of Green Lanterns, all from different parts of the universe. So, it's the Green Lantern Corp that Hal Jordan becomes a part of.
As for The Great Raid, I've seen a couple of times already and you're right, it is a very good movie, let alone war movie. -
The last few I bought were all Blu-ray. They were,
Immortals
Green Lantern
300/Troy/Alexander Revisited- A triple pack for $20. 3 discs in one case.
Also, about a month and half ago, a few Blockbuster stores in my area were closing up and I picked up a few Blu-rays for about $4-5 a piece.
The Great Raid
Flags Of Our Fathers
Letters From Iwo Jima
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid 1&2
Blazing Saddles
Unforgiven
African Cats -
Bought the Blu-ray edition of Ben-Hur today. I got the big box copy. It comes in a nice box along with a book about the movie, a copy of a journal that Charlton Heston kept while making it and a figurine of a Roman soldier. The movie itself is on 2 discs and the picture is fabulous. A third disc also comes with it and has some documentaries on it about the movie. I got it at Best Buy for $59.99. I thought about just getting it in the regular Blu-ray form that also has a dvd copy with it, but it didn't any of the special features on it like the big box version.
