Posts from The Ringo Kid in thread „What are the latest movies you bought on DvD/Blu-Ray?“

    Here are my latest four:

    1) Quantrills Raiders w/ Steve Cochran. Its a Civil War War Movie. Ive been buying movies as of late that have Steve Cochran in them. I started liking him after I saw him portray (unofficially) S.Sgt Pool in: The Tanks Are Coming.

    2) Advance To the Rear w/ Glenn Ford. A Civil War--war movie/comedy. I havent seen this in several dogs ages and am looking forward to seeing it.

    3) A Force Of Arms w/ William Holden and Gene Evans. This is a WWII War Movie depicting those who served in the 36th (Texas) Infantry Division in WWII. They were nicknamed: The T-Patchers. Im particularly looking forward to seeing this one so im HOPING it aint full of romance garbage.

    4) Breakthrough w/ John Agar and Frank Lovejoy. This is another WWII War movie.

Used to be that Deep Discount was my main source for DVD's. free shipping on every order, and awesome prices. Then they had to go and price themselves out of competition. Now they aren't even in the same league as the sites I listed above.

They were for years my only source-except on rare occasions when i bought from walmart. They used to have the best prices I saw from any source but-apparently they sold out to some greedy new owners a few years ago and all the good bargains ended. I might as well as just order from the studios themselves.

Heh heh, so it was a legal 5 finger discount ;-)) Ill be trying those sites for deals for sure.

Hondo still hasn't arrived, it must be coming by row boat!

Received a stash of bargain Randolph Scott collection DVDs:
Fort worth, colt .45, tall man riding, ride the high country.
The man behind the gun, thunder over the plains, riding shotgun.
Rage at dawn, buffalo stampede, wagon wheels, Abilene town, the fighting westerner, to the last man.
    13 films for under £25!

I take it, you like Westerns?:lol::lol:

Since I have a VERY good chance at owning an complete all original well-marked and used in two wars rifle--im having to refrain from buying any DvDs till at least June. What im possibly going to own is-an 1863 Trapdoor Rifle that them Yanks used in the Civil War-then was used in the Franco-Prussian war by them Germans. :-))

Just received Blues of "Zulu" and "Cleopatra" which are for sale on Amazon UK and are all region playable.
Have on order: "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", "Hondo", "Ironclad", "From Russia With Love" and "Rio Lobo".
I read that GBU was not very well upgraded on Blue and I'm buying "Ironclad" blindly because a friend described it as a combination of Prince John meets the Magnificent Seven at the Alamo.
    What the hell?

    We deal in lead, friend.

On Ironclad, if its the movie im thinking of? it has to do with the battle between the C.S.S. Merrimac and the U.S.S. Monitor-during the Civil War. If so? this is a very well made movie.

Will not be ordering till 1st week in June:

    1) Breakthrough. I think this is about the 45th ID and has John Agar in it.

    2) Qunatrill's Raiders (IF, back in stock.) If not in stock--this one will be: Mutiny--w/ Gene Evans and Mark Stevens.

    3) Fighter Squadron w/ Robert Stack. Uses great combat footage.

    4) Thunderbirds (IF in stock) w/ Gene Tierney and Preston Foster. This movie is about the 45th Infantry Division in WWII.

Yesterday I bought Red Tails on Blu-ray/ DVD. Haven't watched it yet, but I'll get to it. All about the Tuskegee airman of WW2 starring Cuba Gooding Jr and Terrence Howard and produced by George Lucas.

Please let me know what you think on this one? I want to see it badly. This version will be the accurate version pf what happened withOUT spiked leeches propaganda. Also, Bombers were indeed lost on raids even with these men escorting them. It is a MYTH, that they never lost a bomber when they escorted them. However, they DID do a fantastic job!!!!!!!!!!

    Very true !

    Chester :newyear:

Sadly--yup. I just found out 2 days ago that they charged me an extra $22++ for a movie i didnt order. Now I have to wait for the package to arrive, then a return slip, then they have to get the movie back in before I get my refund. A few years ago they were much different. To top that off, they sent my latest 3 dvds in an unprotected plastic bag-and I had requested they not do that because, back in Feb, I had three that came in the same type bag--all were damaged with puncture marks through them. They DONT--listen to ones needs or complaints and this last one-is almost the straw that broke the camels back--for me. I wonder if Amazon.com has better prices and better movie selection that DDDvD" If so--ill never order from DD again.

[quote='The Ringo Kid','http://dukewayne.com/bb/index.php?thread/&postID=110186#post110186'] I bought it because it was slightly under $8 Bucks. That's one of VERY few good deals that store had.[/QUOTE

    Remember when you could find 'good deals' for under $6 Bucks, next it will be $10 Bucks. (-;

    Chester :newyear:

Same here. Sometimes I could find them for from $1 buck, to about $2.50 or so. Deep discount dvd shop inst as good on prices as they used to be, nor service for that matter,
