There are over 10 more of these B-western titles released under the same company that I'll be getting. I like that they "go with each other", appearance wise, though I'm not thrilled about a picture of Hondo and his dog being on the covers.

Thanks. Are you not a fan of Brannigan or have you just not gotten around to adding it to your collection?

Today was like Christmas for me. My new Pioneer region free Blu-ray player arrived, and so did 9 Duke films.
I have some of these already in different versions, but I love the John Wayne Collection design of the DVD's so much that I decided to get the full set from this collection.
It's a collector's thing.
My stepdad is coming over today and I'm going to surprise him by giving him the Brannigan DVD. He had it recorded on tape but hasn't seen it in ages, but always talks about it when we're watching a John Wayne movie or discuss him. So we'll have a few beers, eat some chips and watch Brannigan this evening

Taken 2 on DVD. A gift from my girlfriend.
-
The Last Hard Men on DVD. A surprisingly good and somewhat forgotten western flick with Charlton Heston and James Coburn.

Red Sun
Vera Cruz
ApacheI'm on a Bronson high at the moment and those are titles I didn't have in my Bronson library.

Forgot to post this but: I just bought earlier this week-the entire series Branded w/ Chuck Connors. Some notable guests on disc 1 include but not limited to: Alex Cord, Harry Carey Jr, Gene Evans and Michael Ansara.
Wow, that's eerie as I was a couple of clicks away from ordering that very DVD-set last night! I love Chuck Connors in everything he's in.However, I decided against it when I learned the episodes are the syndicated versions, with 3-4 minutes cut from every episode I'll hold out hope that we get the uncut episodes one fine day.
Hondo, when you see The Ten commandments on screen, you'll be blown away. Picture is amazing and the color is out of this world.
Yes, I've heard nothing but good things about it so I'm really looking forward to it. -
Bought The Ten Commandments on Blu-ray the other week and also ordered some other, lesser known Charlton Heston movies from Amazon - Treasure Island, Proud Men, Mother Lode and a few others. When they all arrive I know what I'll be doing that weekend!

Bought the Blu-ray edition of Ben-Hur today. I got the big box copy. It comes in a nice box along with a book about the movie, a copy of a journal that Charlton Heston kept while making it and a figurine of a Roman soldier. The movie itself is on 2 discs and the picture is fabulous. A third disc also comes with it and has some documentaries on it about the movie. I got it at Best Buy for $59.99. I thought about just getting it in the regular Blu-ray form that also has a dvd copy with it, but it didn't any of the special features on it like the big box version.
That's a beautiful edition, I'm definitely getting it one of these days. -
Is this the one about all those street gangs in New York? and with Michael beck in it? If so? thhat is a good movie.
"Warriors, come out and plaaayyyy warriors."
Indeed it is. I love it. -
Seriously, this is the bargain of the year for me:
I can't believe I got this beautiful giftset of both The Searchers and Rio Bravo in their respective Ultimate Collector's Edition for just over 12 dollars plus shipping. It's an absolute steal! Two of the finest westerns ever made in a luxurious case, filled with both bonus features and other goodies for the fans of The Duke.
Anyone else own this set? Or the Ultimate Collector's Editions of the movies? It's too bad Iäm going away this weekend, I don't think I'll be able to watch them until next weekend since I'm too exhausted from work to watch them on the weekdays.

The Warriors - Ultimate Director's Cut is my latest purchase. Fell in love with this movie when I watched it a couple of weeks ago for the first time.
-
Looks like I'll be viewing the movies myself soon enough. The seller told me he'd ship the correct item tomorrow and let me keep the wrong box set I received. I guess that's fair enough.
-
I didn't know where else to put this, feel free to move it if you'd like. I'm just soooooooo p***** right now, p***** beyond words!
Last week I ordered a John Wayne Giftset box with both The Searchers and Rio Bravo in the Ultimate Collector's Editions for the amazing price of just a bit over 12 dollars plus shipping. I've been on cloud nine all week, awaiting its arrival. Then finally, today I receive the package I've waited for a whole week. I open it with the excitement of a child on Christmas morning and what do I see? Something completely different than what I ordered! I got the John Wayne FIlm Collection box set with the following titles:
Allegheny Uprising
Reunion In France
Without Reservations
Tycoon
Big Jim McLain
Trouble Along the WayI don't own these movies at the moment, in fact I haven't even seen them (are they any good?) and I know that The Duke will always be The Duke, but these movies are not what I had my heart set on and am therefore very disappointed. I emailed the seller on eBay and told him I want a full refund and the shipping cost for me to ship it back to him. I'm awaiting his responce, I hope it will be resolved quickly.
So, to answer the question, last movies I bought on DVD was The Searchers and Rio Bravo but what I got was something entirely different.

My God, Hondo Apache, that is one fine graphic. With that popcorn and a lot more beer I could probably even sit through a Jane Fonda movie.
I bought another movie yesterday, Ong Bak 2. It's a martial arts movie from Thailand that absolutely everyone I know who has seen it loves. First Rio Lobo then this movie. It's going to be a great weekend!
-
Rio Lobo is my latest DVD purchase. I'm looking forward to watching it this weekend with a cold beer and some popcorn.
