Jubal is a really understated film. Almost more of a noir drama than a western. Be interesting to see how good the transfer is

That sounds like good prices for a format I cant afford to collect ;-))
Oh and, just remembered the title to that $3 buck DvD: Treasure of the Sierra Madre and i got it because its a 2-disc set. I have the movie but will be giving it away to a friend. That one is one of my top favorite Bogie movies topped only by: Sahara and They Drive By Night.
Treasure of the Sierra Madre is a terrific film! They are releasing it here in the UK this month as a limited edition Blu Ray steelbook, already reserved mine!
-
The Ringo Kid-$3 a good deal.
I just ordered "Fort Apache" and "Battle of the Bulge" from Amazon for $4.99
each in BluRay..Unbelievable value! Both are superb transfers!
-
Sure thing especially if you have movies like: Red Ball Express, Target Zero and The One That Got Away. ;-))
Ill have to dig deep in the archives, two of them sound very familiar!
-
Alternate reply:
Gee I wonder?
Another alternate reply:
From a patient Gent ;-))
We'll need to think about adding a few more to make it worthwhile sending!
-
Not the latest bought but soon to be given: Pillars of the Sky w/ Jeff Chandler, Ward Bond etc. ;-))
So where are you getting that from?
-
The Bourne Legacy. I just love the Bourne flics, and this one didn't disappoint.
Mark
Agreed Mark, I watched it on Sunday and really enjoyed it.
It got some bad press but really can't see why, I thought it was a worthy addition to the series. -
The Bond collection, the one with all the movies in Blu-ray. There was a one-day special discount at Amazon that was so low hubby and I couldn't resist. One thing I love about this set -- there is a place in it for a future Skyfall Blu-ray.
By the way, I loved Skyfall -- saw it twice. Rich (the hubby) loved it too.
Cool about the extra space, I've already pre-ordered Skyfall so good to know when I get round to the boxset; hopefully the UK one will be the same.
Was hoping they would do the same sort of offer here on Amazon but we only second rate films reduced or they we only reduced by 10%, lol!I too really enjoyed Skyfall, one of the best Bond films I've seen in a very long time: saw it twice too!

Red Sun
Vera Cruz
ApacheI'm on a Bronson high at the moment and those are titles I didn't have in my Bronson library.
Vera cruz in on blu ray now, I still haven't opened mine so can't tell you if it's a good transfer!
Chato's Land really needs the blu ray treatment, that's a top Bronson movie.

Albuquerque
Whispering Smith

War Arrow
Across the Wide Missouri
Nevadan, The
Colorado Territory
Trooper Hook
Cattle Drive

Pony Express
Rage at Dawn

I also bought a boxed set of Randolph Scott with about 6 films but it hasn't arrived yet. That's a mighty fine list, plenty of Randolph Scott and Joel McRae in there too! Be interested to know what trooper hook is like as that's one I've been toying with but never seen. The Warner archives Randolph Scott box set is worth waiting for!
Enjoy! -
The beans are back in the can. Can't wait to hear how you guys like Drums.
Took advantage of Amazon on line sales again and upgraded some titles to blue ray - Cool Hand Luke, Aliens, To Kill a Mockingbird, Little Shop of Horrors and Twilight's Last Gleaming. Also got Mel's Get the Gringo.
Going to be busy real soon.We deal in lead, friend.

Been ages since I saw Night of the Grizzly--dont recall anything about it? It might be a possibility for me in the future. ;-))
With the list I have from above--not sure what order ill see them in but will save at least The Scarlet Coat and A Thunder of Drums for the last two.
No spilling the beans on Thunder of Drums on here either!
-
Its been about 20 years since I last saw Yellowstone K/ cant remember much of it so looking forwards to watching it when they arrive hopefully by mid this coming week ;-))
When you get a chance? nab The Search--though im not a big Monty Clift fan--he was excellent in this movie and in it-I rate him like his roles in: Red River and From Here To Eternity.
Also, get: The Scarlet Coat-with Cornel Wilde. I have not seen it from beginning to end-seen only about half of it once about 2 years ago--and what I saw was excellent to say the least. This movie is the movie that made me a big fan of Cornel Wilde.
Thanks... MORE to add to the list, lol!
Night of the Grizzly on Olive films and More dead than alive are very, very good Clint Walker Westerns too! -
Just bought:
Yellowstone Kelly:
The Search:
Und finally: A Thunder of Drums:Lol, we'll be able to discuss some of those when mine arrive!
Yellowstone Kelly is a really good transfer for a DVD, I enjoyed that one. -
I dont have TSSamurai yet--but want it. Also I want the Mayamoto Musashi (SP?) Trilogy too.
Nice, I have The Seven Samurai and its fantastic.
You'll need a sturdy shelf as its a big old box! -
Arrived in one big box:
Lawrence of Arabia
Moonrise Kingdom
Brave
Von Ryan's Express
Guys and Dolls
Sunset BoulevardAlso: Monogram Cowboy Collection vol. 4
Nice selection.
Moonrise kingdom is a geat little film.
I'm biased as I love Wes Anderson, Rushmore is still my fave! -
I think I have 2-3 Criterion titles. One was: A Night To Remember and ive been wanting The Seven Samurai.
Both fantastic films Carl, I have them too!
-
Criterion blues of "Stagecoach", "Paths of Glory" and "The Seven Samurai". "Stagecoach is the only one of I've watched so far. The opening titles were a bit ragged and looked pretty worn but then the film proper started and the movie has never looked better. A real improvement over any version I've ever seen.
We deal in lead, friend.Gorch nice to hear another Criterion person on here!
I have those 3 titles and can assure you, you won't be disappointed.
-
Couldnt pas this up today since its been a long time since WM offered somehting new in the movies dept as well as in Westerns I did not already have all of. Just picked up a 3-pack of Westerns and they include:
Man From Colorado w/ Glenn Ford.
Man From Laramie w/ James Stewart and Arthur Kennedy.
The Man In the Saddle w/ Randolph Scott.Peter has me on a Randolph Scott kick now ;-))
I'm pleased to hear it!
It wouldn't be fair me being the only one 'accidentally' ordering films!
