Claude Jarman Jr.made only 1 movie with Duke.
Rio Grande. 1950...Trooper Jefferson 'Jeff' Yorke
Claude I thought, was an awkward looking actor,
and so apparently did the studios.
His career seemed to over as soon as it begun!
As Cluade is a guest at Winterset, and there were posts on that thread,
that related to Claude, I have copied them here
Thanks to Paula, for mentioning about a 'Pals' thread.
Display MoreJUST ANNOUNCED: Our very special guest of honor at this year’s John Wayne Birthplace Museum Benefit Dinner is Academy Award®-winning actor Claude Jarman Jr.
After a nationwide talent search, he won the coveted role of Jody Baxter in The Yearling and, still in his teens, was selected by legendary director John Ford to play John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara's son, Trooper Jefferson Yorke, in Rio Grande. At the Museum Benefit Dinner Mr. Jarman will greet fans and admirers of this cavalry classic and discuss his experiences working alongside Wayne, O’Hara, Harry Carey, Jr., Ben Johnson and Victor McLaglen.
The John Wayne Birthplace Museum Benefit Dinner is on Friday, May 27th. After a sumptuous dinner, enjoy a big-screen digital presentation of Rio Grande with Mr. Jarman, followed by a lively auction hosted by Aissa Wayne of many John Wayne and cavalry items, including an authentic McClellan saddle—the exact style as used in all of John Ford’s cavalry pictures.
Tickets for the Benefit Dinner are $100 each and are available online at the Birthplace web site. Funds raised by this event benefit the new John Wayne Museum and Learning Center. For more information about the John Wayne Birthday Celebration, visit http://www.johnwaynebirthplace.org/birthday.
Display MoreWow! Great news! Thanks.
I've been posting news about the birthday celebration at my Ben Johnson page so I hope I can play a tiny part in spreading the word.
I recently posted some cavalry pics to my page, including this one.
Display MoreI couldn't find a Pals of the Saddle thread for Claude Jarman Jr. (is there one?) so I'll post this here...
Warner's sole Archive release this week is a remastered DVD-R of 1949's Intruder in the Dust.
Both a "gripping whodunit and a milestone of social-conscience filmmaking," this drama stars David Brian, Claude Jarman Jr., Juano Hernandez and Porter Hall.
Here is the link at the Warner Archive for anyone interested: http://www.wbshop.com/Intruder…t,pd.html?cgid=ARCHIVENEW
