I only knew that because of a link to a site about him that was posted by a friend of mine over on the www.histomil.com site ;-)) I knew he was a real Native--but always thought he was Navajo.
I wasn't absolutely positive, either , but had also read or heard it somewhere, plus he diffidently looked the part.

I had high ish hopes due to the calibre of people involved but it ended up another sci fi spectacle with very little substance.
Sure this one for Chester to fall asleep in front of.
It certainly doesn't take much, nowadays to get the eyelids a drooping!
But, in this case, I did stay awake for the movie, though the thought of zonking out did occur to me several times.

Jay Silverheels was a real Indian--he was a Mohawk Indian and was from Canada.

Maybe I'm too stuck in the 50's, but I don't like the look. Maybe it is more traditional, but I like Jay Silverheels look much better.
Don't feel bad, as I'm stuck in the 50's too! Yes, Jay Silverheels did a great job looking like an Indian.
I guess we should wait to see the movie. Remember all our comments about the remake of True Grit. As it turned out, wasn't a half bad rendition.
