Another solid character actor that you hardly notice until you realize that you've seen that face in 20 other films and TV series. I first noticed him in "North to Alaska", "The Birds" and then "Major Dundee". After that I could pick him out every time.
His mutilated corpse in "Ulzana's Raid" is a particular shock.
