My sister was the big Earl Holliman fan so we had to watch. I liked it.
Thanks may2.
I have just profiled both the series for you

Display MoreI posted this on the High Chaparral forum a few months back.
If anyone is interested there is an authorized biography of Henry Darrow out, Henry Darrow: Lightning in a Bottle.

The author of this book, Jan Pippens, responded to a query at IMDB about DVDs of High Chaparral being available,
Legitimate High Chaparral DVDs have been released from Kinowelt in Germany (all 4 seasons, with option to set language as the original actors' voices in English)and by a company in the Netherlands (1st season). The Kinowelt DVDs can be purchased on Amazon. Kinowelt quality is excellent - I have not seen the Dutch release but am told it is fine quality as well.
Thank you may2, I have copied you post over to

I don't agree with the previous opinion. "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza" were extremely popular TV Westerns for many more years.
Jim, I omitted to say on that 'Reception' paragraph
that it was taken from Wikipedia, and was not my personal comment,
or that of IMDb.
Gunsmoke and Bonanza, did buck the trend,
carrying on into the 70's.
Wagon Train and Rawhide in to the mid '60's
but if you notice our profiles,
Classic TV Westerns
There were two or three newcomers of course
Th Virginian, The High Chaparell and one of your favourites
Little House on The Prairie.
However most , if not all the others
had 'died' in the late 50's, early 60's
