Elly,
While there is a resemblance to Duke, nose, in particular, and height, neither the Mrs. or I think its him. Especially $22.50 worth. To me the giveaway is that, while Mr. Sherman has a cigarette, the other fellow does not.

Hi Folks check this out looks more like the straw man from Wizard of Oz than JW!! .
Good point Elly, the Mrs. and I thought it looks more like Moe Howard, of the Three Stooges
In any case, who wants a John Wayne replica only 3 feet tall? I'd rather have a six foot
cardboard stand up of Duke. At least it looks like him, and costs far less.

These auctions are over pretty quick, but a good opportunity for someone who has the space -
Ebay auction for 6 Franklin Mint plates - #1
Ebay auction for 6 Franklin Mint plates - #2
And for the child in each of us . . . a John Wayne teddy bear (this auction's got a little more time ).
Chester
Yes, we saw them, and were going to post a link, but by the time we might have posted the link, the auction was about to be over.
Chester
Chilibill,
What do you think? Can the 26 Bar pull this one off?? Looks like an opportunity for someone.
dukefan1, I've got the kids busy rolling those pennies right now!
Also on ebay, here's something a little more affordable, that might interest some here. I'd get it myself, but my hip measurement is a little bigger than 40" .

ebay is an interesting community, where you can buy almost anything.
In doing a "john wayne" search, we found that (at the time we did the search) there were 71 items in the Home and Garden category.
Among other things, there was this wall clock -

What every discerning JW fan should have in their home .
Imagine - your whole home could be decorated in Early American Duke!
Seriously, we did a search for "john wayne" and came up with 15,897 items scattered over 31 categories of items! It shouldn't take more than twenty to thirty minutes to check them all out .
Chester
Wow! Our mouse pad arrived yesterday - only two days!! It really does look neat!
Here's another interesting item on ebay - a John Wayne cookie jar - or at least it is supposed to be a likeness of Duke. It is a pretty neat cowboy cookie jar, but I wouldn't be willing to pay the price for a likeness that doesn't look that much like JW.
And for those of you in the UK - check out these salt and pepper pots.
Chester
There's an auction on ebay for a John Wayne mouse pad. I think this is the kind of auction that runs continuously, and it is a fixed price. Pretty nice collage of shots from several Duke movies.
Chester
Here's an auction for a Brannigan belt buckle. These were apparently a gift from Duke to the cast and crew after filming was completed (along with a big, hot steaming bowl of Chiliblill's chili ).
I already have one, so I won't be bidding on it - - so go for it, guys!

Won the buckle from the 2nd link that I posted
Hey, congratulations! It is an exhilarating feeling to win something like that! I won the auction for the John Wayne Commemorative 1982 Winchester Sporting Arms catalog, with John Wayne's picture on the front (an artist's conception, that is, and a very good one). That just came in the mail today. I'm still waiting for the poster .
Chester
Thanks, Clancy, for letting us know about it!
Ebay sure does have an abundance of John Wayne stuff!
Chester
Check out this auction on ebay - it might especially of interest to you folks in the UK, as that is where it is.
Chester
dukefan1,
I must confess, I don't check into the Trading Post too often, but happened upon your post this morning. In checking on IMDb, I found the following reference to the film Arizona. While I don't remember having heard of it before, there it is. What can I say?
I see the reserve was not met on that lobby card - I wonder how much money they wanted for it.
Chester
This is a "more for fun" find than a serious one, but I thought you folks would enjoy it -
LifeSize Statue John Wayne on Horse Western Hollywood
OK, which one of you guys from the UK is responsible for this - Arthur? Robbie? CHANCE?
It doesn't really look all that much like John Wayne, in my opinion, but it sure would be fun to have (wish I had that kind of money!!).
Chester
Good morning, all!
First of all, we didn't ever get a scanner (see previous post ), probably won't until this summer sometime.
Jumping from a topic in another forum, I thought I'd list here some current auctions that are likely to be of interest to folks here (thanks to johnwfan, a new member, for bringing these to our attention ) -
eBay - Cancel My Reservation - Auction ending April 13th
Search results for "Maker of Men" - John Wayne 1931 - last auction ending April 13th
A Rough Romance - John Wayne - 1930 (Auction ends April 13th)
Bardelays the Magnificent - Auction ends April 13th
A note of caution, based solely on my observation and opinion - I think in almost every case, these videos are copies (copied from where, who knows?). With the exception of Cancel My Reservation, the older ones are most likely not official releases. If you look at the photos, it appears that the covers are scanned and placed into the outer sleeve of a clam shell case.
So I am not specifically recommending these, just saying they are available.

This one is interesting...likely lots of oddball Duke pics in here....I assume the pic with Duke and the German Shepherd is his residence in Newport? Always wanted to see a picture of his home...I hear it has been demolished..

I just wanted to say that we are the ones who won this auction. The John Wayne scrapbook arrived in the mail today.
What a treasure trove! I'm sure it is worth far more than what I paid for it. It is a collection of pictures and articles from movie magazines, starting in 1946 and ending sometime in the mid-seventies. We hope to be acquiring a scanner sometime this week, so we can scan and share some of these gems with all of you.

Thanks to itdo for telling us about the Mad magazine, which we successfully won.
The MAD magazine arrived today, so I'll be working on getting it scanned for dukefan1, so he can post it on his site. Thanks again, itdo!

Hey, that book is in Australia! Sounds like a good one for smokey!
And ROLIKID, if we should see you bidding on anything, we'll be sure to jack the bid up real high (just kidding!).
Chester
Duke Fan,
Thanks for the heads up. Seems as no one bid on it, I would think it was worth $35.00.
