    While there is a resemblance to Duke, nose, in particular, and height, neither the Mrs. or I think its him. Especially $22.50 worth. To me the giveaway is that, while Mr. Sherman has a cigarette, the other fellow does not. :wink_smile:

    ebay is an interesting community, where you can buy almost anything.


    In doing a "john wayne" search, we found that (at the time we did the search) there were 71 items in the Home and Garden category.


    Among other things, there was this wall clock -

    What every discerning JW fan should have in their home :D .


    Imagine - your whole home could be decorated in Early American Duke!


    Seriously, we did a search for "john wayne" and came up with 15,897 items scattered over 31 categories of items! It shouldn't take more than twenty to thirty minutes to check them all out :fear: .

    Wow! Our mouse pad arrived yesterday - only two days!! It really does look neat!


    Here's another interesting item on ebay - a John Wayne cookie jar - or at least it is supposed to be a likeness of Duke. It is a pretty neat cowboy cookie jar, but I wouldn't be willing to pay the price for a likeness that doesn't look that much like JW.


    And for those of you in the UK - check out these salt and pepper pots.

    Here's an auction for a Brannigan belt buckle. These were apparently a gift from Duke to the cast and crew after filming was completed (along with a big, hot steaming bowl of Chiliblill's chili :D ).


    I already have one, so I won't be bidding on it - :D - so go for it, guys!

    Hey, congratulations! It is an exhilarating feeling to win something like that! I won the auction for the John Wayne Commemorative 1982 Winchester Sporting Arms catalog, with John Wayne's picture on the front (an artist's conception, that is, and a very good one). That just came in the mail today. I'm still waiting for the poster :rolleyes: .

    I must confess, I don't check into the Trading Post too often, but happened upon your post this morning. In checking on IMDb, I found the following reference to the film Arizona. While I don't remember having heard of it before, there it is. What can I say?


    I see the reserve was not met on that lobby card - I wonder how much money they wanted for it.

    First of all, we didn't ever get a scanner (see previous post :) ), probably won't until this summer sometime.


    Jumping from a topic in another forum, I thought I'd list here some current auctions that are likely to be of interest to folks here (thanks to johnwfan, a new member, for bringing these to our attention :) ) -

    A note of caution, based solely on my observation and opinion - I think in almost every case, these videos are copies (copied from where, who knows?). With the exception of Cancel My Reservation, the older ones are most likely not official releases. If you look at the photos, it appears that the covers are scanned and placed into the outer sleeve of a clam shell case.


    So I am not specifically recommending these, just saying they are available.

    I just wanted to say that we are the ones who won this auction. The John Wayne scrapbook arrived in the mail today.


    What a treasure trove! I'm sure it is worth far more than what I paid for it. It is a collection of pictures and articles from movie magazines, starting in 1946 and ending sometime in the mid-seventies. We hope to be acquiring a scanner sometime this week, so we can scan and share some of these gems with all of you.
