Display MoreBarry O'Connor ( James J. Corbett ), called the Prince of Avenue A for his dandified appearance,
is the son of political leader Patrick O'Connor ( Richard Cummings ).
O'Connor is supporting William Tompkins ( Frederick Vroom ) for Mayor,
but when Tompkins' daughter Mary ( Mary Warren ) ejects Barry from a party at the Tompkins' house,
the elder O'Connor becomes enraged and the candidate, fearful of losing the election,
insists that Mary escort Barry to the district ball. When Tompkins' rival in the election,
Edgar Jones ( Harry Northrup ), insults Mary at the ball, Barry protects her.
The incident forces the girl to realize that her escort is more than a dandy,
and the two fall in love.
