Still Lost ?
5 August 2016 | by Pamela Short (Canada)
Display MoreIt is my ambition to add as many silent film synopsis of films that have a survival status of unknown or presumed lost. I try to do as much research as I can and it is not my intention to deceive anyone, for sometimes the film does exist. I am more than delighted if someone has knowledge of a film listed as lost but survives, as I wish all silent films did survive. I hope the reader enjoys this brief synopsis.
When John Webb ( Lynn Hammond ) dies, his wife, Anna ( Mary Carr ),
and his children, John ( Knox Kincaid ), Harry ( Joseph Monahan ),
and Ruth ( Maybeth Carr ), are well provided for,
thanks to his patent on an improved sewing machine.
As time passes, however, Harry mismanages and overspends factory funds,
John leaves town accused of stealing the money embezzled by Harry,
and Ruth elopes. Anna must sell the business to cover Harry's debts,
and, reduced to poverty, she takes a menial factory job.
Later, her story appears in a magazine and the family is happily reunited.
This 1922 silent drama was produced by Fox Film Corporation and directed by Edwin Carewe and Jack Ford (John Ford). Tragically, Silver Wings is now listed as a lost silent film.
