I got a very poor (quality) copy of Song of the South from a friend at work, a few years ago. When they sing songs, there are Japanese subtitles at the bottom of the screen. All the dialogue and singing are in English, thank goodness  . If anyone would like to borrow it (I'd offer to make copies, but the quality is so poor that I'm not sure it would make a watchable copy), PM me with an address and I'd be happy to share.

On the topic of its political correctness (or lack thereof), how come no one finds Gone with the Wind offensive? It certainly has slavery in it, but is widely available. How about The Littlest Rebel or The Little Colonel with Shirley Temple? Both have slaves as part of the story line, and I bought my copies at Costco a few years ago (I bet they're available on DVD by now). I thoroughly agree with your assessment of the movie, Stumpy, and am hard pressed to understand why they don't release it in the US.
