This is a great website. Found it while looking for John Wayne collections. The Duke Triva is informative, also like "Three word story"... and more. Still learning my way around, and everything that I have read about John Wayne here; "This IS the website to be a part of to remember the man himself John Wayne."

Nice podcast you have there, I listened to both just now. Keep up the good work there.
There was a though of doing a JW specific podcast here at dukewayne.com early on but I haven't the time or interest now to do it.
Cheers,
Kevin
Display MoreHowdy Folks! I'm right in the mist of doing something, when this e-mail came in from www.dukewayne.com which says it was Dec. '06 when I
first somehow logged in. I'm 79 now and you must take into consideration my age and forgetting how to reciprocate when asked "where you been George"!
Well, for one thing I've been a John Wayne "sidekick" for many years...been to Monument Valley, Utah where many of the best western films have been made and those were all the John Wayne movies. Well, not all were filmed there, but who cares, any movie with him were the greatest. I think I've every movie the Duke was ever in.
Well, I'm a little winded here --- got that from the Duke and too, I've been a photo/journalist for many years as well and did photo work for a couple Hollywood productions as well. But the scenes in Monument Valley were breathless --- go there if you never have and you'll see what I mean.
Well, gotta run --- I hear the Duke calling me --- that is Ermal Williamson (John Wayne look-alike) now with his show at the Owens Theater, Branson, MO with his sidekick, America's Yodeling Sweetheart Paula Cravens.
It's been a joy to leave this message.
Respectfully,
George Cates

Howdy George,
Welcome back!! I guess the email reminder worked.
All the best to you, and hope to see ya around more often!
Kevin
Awesome, thanks for the warm welcome. For while there I didn't think that my account would get approved.
Welcome to the site Lt. Brannigan!!
Sorry for the delay but we have had to manually approve each new member because of spammers that have abused the auto system in the past. But you are here now and welcome!
Kevin
Display MoreGreeting everyone. Been trying to join here for awhile now. Kevin can tell you it's been quite a chore. But I am very happy to be here.
I've been a John Wayne fan since I was very young. I met him once when I was out in California and we were touring the studios, I was pretty young but I remember my parents telling me my eyes lite up like Christmas lights.
Now I'm 52, retired and living in Illinois. Depending on my wife's work schedule we're planning on going to the 100th Birthday Celebration in Winterset. We live only 235 miles from Winterset so the trip will be short. We just need to figure out where to stay since I'm sure reservations are hard to come by by now.
I have some memorabilia but my pride and joy is my DVD collection of his movies. I have every single one of his movies, that has been released on DVD. Last count was 128 movies or 77% of the complete collection. The oldest movie I have of his is the 1926 "Brown of Harvard".
I'm happy to be here and let me know if I can be of any assistance. That'll be the day.
Welcome DakotaSurfer! Glad you made it, part of the problem was you joined around the time I was moving the site. But all is better now, enjoy the site.
Kevin
