Posts from smokey in thread „Does Anyone Know In What Movie“

    hi stumpy

well they are wild dogs but the aborigine domesticated them a long time ago it is only the white man who considers them pests. have known of some that became pets and they did try to use them as seeing eye dogs but they turned out to be a little too smart and became board and then wanted to do their own thing. if you have the pleasure of having one as a pet they love living with a family and become one of the 'pack' but like i said you do require a licence to have one as a pet. they dont bark like normal dogs they yip and howl.

glad you like the young lady still makes the heart beat for the blokes the girls walking the dingos work with them all of the time.

watched quigely and now i can tell you what the dogs are suppose to be. they are suppose to be dingos but they are way to fat for them to be pure breed dingo so all i can think of is that they are dogs that they used for the movie as to have a dingo you are required to have a licence as they are in some states considered to be a pest but they are our native dog. a pure dingo is way skinnier then the ones in the movie the only fat dingos that i have ever seen are the ones that live in the highlands where it snows and they look fatter as they have a double coat but as this movie was filmed in the northern territory, northern western aust the dogs there would have been a lot thiner they do tend to look under feed.

    hope this helps you out

    hi kilo

just to help you out with you many questions

firstly a chook is a chicken but we call them chooks

a ute is like the big fords that most of the farmers use in america you know with either single cab or twin cab and an open tray with small sides you see them in some of the movies

roo dog is used for chasing down and catching and pulling down roos some of them are also used for pig hunting. the one we had he was a lazy one and had to be chucked of a moving ute before he would start the hunt but he was a good hunter got done in by a wild boar about 5 years after we gave him away but he did the pig in before he died.

didnt raise roos we just hunted them

a jenny roo is a young female roo who is sort of still in the pouch will come out to eat but still sleeps in the mothers pouch at night we got her from a road kill mum dead but she was still alive till pete(the dog) did her in we had her for about 3 months a little i think she was grey but could have been a red.

as for the dog in quigely i will have to have another look at the movie and will get back to you about the breed.

got your pm and sent you a reply hope you got it

    hi kilo

we have had dogs in our family for as long as i can remember. most of our dogs have been Queensland Blue Heelers (australian cattle dogs) we have had a roo dog we gave him away after he started killing our chooks and after he killed our jenny roo ( he would only chase roos down if he was thrown from the back of the ute) he was a skinny one but fast, we have had a standard foxy, a bittsa who was a corgi crossed with something (good snaker), a boarder collie crossed with a kelpie, and one we had to put down when she was just a few weeks old as she was very sick cant remember what her breed was. we also had a stumpy cattle dog. mum and dad lost their dog last year and havent replaced him he was 17 yrs old a red/blue cattle dog much loved, my brother has a foxyXcattle, my sister has a queensland blue and i have a red/blue cattle dog (red mum, blue dad same as mums dog).

my cattle dog will bite first ask questions later which is good as she will protect the little bloke and myself. if you want to know more let me know

    till later
