the second one is great fun from what i remember. -
the rifleman with denver pyle,lee van cleff and buddy hackett.most of the town scenes in this show were shot on a sound stage. but the stories were very good.

louis a'amour's conagher.staring sam elliott with katharine ross,barry corbin,ken curtis and buck taylor. costumes by lester bayless. slow in spots but worth the time.

elly! you are correct about the big trail. not many movie houses were set up to show 70mm widescreen called grandeur. and the great depression at that time had a lot to do with it. people needed money for other things.
also there are young people who do not watch dukes films. but its like when you were a kid a would not eat your vegetables even though it was good for you.then you try them and fine out how good they are, same with duke. -
i think this counts. the centennial celebration at winterset last may.on dvd 1hr.43min widescreen very well done. brings back great memories. a great gift for any duke fan.

the first episode of gunsmoke with the intro. by the duke. he must have be filming the searchers at the time. because of outfit he had on.fun to watch.

also [stagecoach.] tcm .funny i own this one on dvd but tuned it in about 20 min. in and stopped everything i was doing.

death of a gunfighter.richard widmark with lena horne as his lover who owns a saloon.no mention of race at all in th movie.he's a town sheriff who out lives his time.

THE MAN FROM THE ALAMO (1953)
GLENN FORD with CHILL WILLS and HUGH O'BRIAN
about a alamo defender who leaves to protect his family. good action but eveyone's has a revolver. not in 1836. wrong weapons for the time frame. -
Jesse James wth Tyrone Power as Jesse, Henry Fonda as Frank and Randolph Scott as the Liberty, Mo sherriff. It was actually a very well made film. I would recommend it. Made in I believe 1939 and filmed in color as well.
YOU'RE RIGHT 1939. most critics regard that year as the greatest year of movie making.

"3:10 To Yuma" (2007)What a difference 50 years makes. This is the way a remake should be done.
It stayed close to the originals storyline, but expanded upon it and made it it's own. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale did a terrific job recreating the roles originally done by Glen Ford and Van Hefflin. A great film and a must see for western fans.
MUST SEE. I ENJOYED THIS FILM VERY MUCH.
