Very bad year as far as snow goes, in fact the upper midwest is in a snow drought this year. I am glad I sold my sled last spring. I am looking forward to a much better year and will have a new sled next fall/winter.

I have a friend who just moved to Michigan from California, and I guess they've had snow for quite awhile (she says her 8 year old is tired of the snow now). She's on the upper peninsula, a couple of blocks from Lake Michigan. Every time she tells me about the snow, I think of you, Todd, and how you haven't had much.

P.S. Our weather is cold in the morning - lower thirties - but nice in the afternoon - low sixties. We did have an inch of rain Saturday night.

For the first time in almost a month, the overnight low has been above freezing. For the past week, the "magic number" has been 27º F overnight, but this morning it was 41º F, and we had a little bit of rain this evening.

We've had real cold days and nights for the past few days (at least for our part of the world), with the lowest overnight temperature bottoming out at 21ºF, and a daytime high of 50ºF today (the highest it's been in days). Clear skies, no clouds, and a slight breeze.

We've had cool nights, daytime temps in the low to mid sixties, but by the end of the week, they are predicting night time temperatures down in the teens!!!

If there is any precipitation, it could be snow . . . !

Hey, Colorado Bob, it sure seems you are getting hit hard by that . . . global warming . . . or not!

This morning at 8 AM, it was 50º F after an overnight low of 50º F. The temp went up to 62º F, now there is a cold front coming through and the temperature has dropped to 48º F - noticeable change, to say the least. We had a quarter of an inch of rain overnight, then just a few sprinkles the rest of the day.

Cold here! Last weekend, we had about a tenth of an inch of rain, then things cleared up. Tonight it was 36º F at 6 PM, and down to 32º F at 7:30 PM. We might hit the teens by morning . . . br-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r!

We had 2.75 inches of rain this past weekend. When it rains around here, the temperature goes up some - we were having temps in the upper twenties and low thirties for many nights in a row, until the rain came - then overnight lows went to the upper forties.

Winter . . . gotta love it . . . or not . . . .

This could be our report in a month or so . . . .

Our average rainfall from about now until March/April is about 60 inches, and some real good storms, but at least for now we are enjoying nice weather. Mid sixties during the day, blue skies . . . mid thirties to low fifties at night (if it's clear, it's cold and if it's cloudy, it's warmer at night). Of course, all these temps are Fº.

We continue to have mostly nice weather, though it was raining enough yesterday morning to cancel our grandson's soccer game. It's sunny this morning.

Our morning temps have been down in the low 30's just a couple of days ago, but not so cold today - up to 36º F as of this writing . . . er, typing . . . .

We've had GREAT weather lately! Sunny and beautiful during the day, with moderate temperatures for the most part. It gets cold in the mornings, dipping into the 30's now and then, but it warms right up for most of the day.

Good weather is a real blessing right now, as we haven't finished our kitchen yet, and there is still stuff on our deck .

Thankfully, the morning fog has rolled in again for a typical summer pattern of nice, cool nights and pleasant days (mid-eighties).

In a word, COLD!

Not anywhere near as cold as it gets in places like Russia or Norway or even Minnesota, but cold for around here. There was snow over the weekend, although amazingly none at our house. In the ridges above us and even at the coast (our daughter told us of walking on the beach in the SNOW!). We didn't get over 41º F here yesterday, which is unseasonably cold for a daytime high.

And more rain expected again this week . . . believe me, Baby Sis, if I could send some of this rain your way, it would happen in a heart beat .

Funny how the snow landed - there was snow near the coast, in Santa Cruz proper (in the flat lands), and in the ridges around us, but none on us here in the San Lorenzo Valley!

Heavy hail last night before we went to bed, thunder and lightning as we fell asleep, clouds early this morning, and sunshine by lunch time (which was fortunate, as it was opening day for Little League - it was cold, but at least we didn't get rained on ).

The weather in our little corner of the world has been pretty wild in the past day or two - what the weatherman calls "unsettled conditions" meaning it can be sunny one minute, and pouring down hail the next. Chester encountered a dusting of snow as he went over the 1200 foot summit on the way to work this morning. Later on in the day, that same road was closed due to snow, although the temperature is such that it didn't stay long, and by the time he came home, it was mostly gone.

It's been pretty cold, too (at least by local standards ), and the snow level should go down to around 500 feet above sea level AGAIN! Br-r-r-r-r-r-r!

Sadly, not anywhere enough snow to go snowmobiling, Todd , but enough to look pretty .

Speaking of snow, the snow level dropped to around 1000 feet (above sea level) locally, and that means snow on the nearby mountain tops, one of which is Mt. Hamilton.

We've rarely had snow at our house (we're only 350 feet above sea level), but it has happened since we moved into this house almost 18 years ago.

Todd, that cabin looks like something out of a JW movie - a neat old cabin!

I am TOTALLY with you, Ringo!! I DETEST the hot weather.

Thankfully, we are looking at cooler weather, maybe getting down to the thirties again overnight.

Phantomstranger, where are you from? I don't remember .

It got REAL windy around here, after the last time I posted! Lots of tree debris on the ground, and power outages in the area (although obviously we still have power). Wires down closed a local thoroughfare, hopefully they'll have it open by morning.

I was too busy this morning to get on the 'puter, but overnight we had 2.75". Since 6 AM this morning, we've had an additional 1.15". More heavy rain is forecasted overnight, and on and off rain for the week.
