Jay, before our snow started we had thunder and lightning. Its called thundersnow!!! We didn't get as much as they predicted but its white out and that's what counts. 1 more week of winter then the spring breezes can come.

The old cabin is called the "Trail Center". I believe it used to serve as a rest stop for skiers and snowmobilers but there is not as much traffic as you get closer to the Canadian border because most of the trails are dead ends or loops, nice for families with kids who don't want to go far.
I know I have said it before, but it is so awesome going up there.

Not my beer, I usually wait till the end of the day to engage in adult beverages. Too many things can go wrong. Not to worry, I do have a couple drinks now and then though!! :stunned:  :headbonk::stunned:

Here are a few more pics of my trip, plus the snow!!! Sorry Senta, I love the snow!!!!!!!!!!!

The picture of the orange machine is a groomer which they take on the trails to smooth them out. The picture of me at the bar is what happens when things aren't so smooth!!!!

Man, I am telling you, I don't know how you guys do it down there in the south. I get kranky if it gets above 80 up here. Thank god that only lasts a couple months.

Here is a pic from my latest snowmobiling adventure. Not me in the picture, buddy of mine. My sled is the green and black one. We were 12 miles from Grand Portage, MN in the picture and we made it to the casino there for a lunch break, no gambling for me though, like to keep my money in my wallet :) . Grand Portage is about 5 miles from the Canadian border. Wish I was up there now!!

Well last weekend when I left to go snowmobiling in northern MN it was -18F. When I got to northern MN it was -34F. But it did warm up to -2F during the day. By Sunday though it was 10-15F out so the cold spell did not last that long.

That stupid rodent has been seeing his shadow the last 5 years or so and we still haven't had a decent old fashion winter in the midwest since 1999-2000.

If he see's his shadow again I am driving over there and putting him back into his hole.....permenantly!!!!

Not to get into a big discussion but the wacko's are coming out in force now blaming this all on global warming. I think most of those people are nuts and we don't have near enough data to call it global warming or not. I personally believe weather is cyclical and we will be back to normal before too long.

And the answer to the question to where does it snow? The UP of Michigan or the North Shore/arrowhead of Minnesota always have snow in the winter, no matter what.

You are correct Chester on the whining. This is unbelievable weather for Minnesota in January. They are cancelling all the weather related activities because the ice on the lakes is unsafe and there is no snow for all the festivals. The snow is a big buisness for the northern states and for the last 5-8 years depending on where you live there has been a snow "drought" and the economy is starting to really feel it.

Jjust for the record, it was 45 here last Thursday, normal temp is 20 for a high. They are saying so far this is the 2nd warmest January on record. :fear::fear::headbonk::headbonk::frusty::frusty::dead::dead:
