Posts from chester7777 in thread „How's The Weather“

We've had pleasant days (upper sixties to low seventies) and cool nights (low to mid forties), although the weather man is predicting freezing temperatures overnight by Thanksgiving morning.

PERFECT weather for selling hot dogs and for our son's last Little League Fall ball game. Warm as long as the sun was out, but as soon as it ducked behind the mountain, the temperature dropped immediately. The wind came up, and our team potluck was finished up in much cooler temps (although it's downright balmy around here, compared to Todd's neighborhood).

First minus figure tonight. Still mainly dry

Is that minus Celsius? I am assuming it is. That's pretty cold - below freezing!

We haven't hit the thirties in a few weeks, but those nights are coming . . . soon. We've been flirting with it, with overnight lows right at 40º F, and daytime highs in the mid- to upper sixties.

We had .31 inches of rain over the weekend, for which we are thankful.

About a 5 hour drive from here, in the Sierra Nevada, they've had enough snow to start opening the ski resorts.

An amazing place we live - snow in one direction, warm enough temperatures to go swimming in another, and just plain ol' pleasant where we are.

We're very thankful we're not having high winds and fire, like in Southern California!

We are having unseasonably high temps, in the eighties during the day, but down to the low forties overnight. The temperature more than doubles on days like that - we leave in the morning and have on a warm jacket, and come home later in the day wearing just short sleeves, but if we stay away long enough, we need the jacket again.

However, we still haven't fired up the furnace yet (haven't even relit the pilot light). When the kids complain in the morning, I tell them it's just like camping. They never complain about the cold morning when we're camping .

I had a birthday a couple of days ago, and my teenagers got me a remote rain guage and "thermo-sensor" (fancy name for electronic, digital thermometer). My son helped me set it up, and we recorded .24" of rain. It was pretty cool to stand inside and record the rainfall without getting wet! I don't know how it works, but it is even self-emptying!

We have overcast skies today, and might have rain by tonight or tomorrow morning :hyper:.

    Yesterday's high was about 65º F, and last night's low 46º F.

    Mrs. C :angel1:

Ervserver, good to see you around! Sounds like great weather. We've probably got another month or so before we will see the same thing.

For today - we had some rain overnight (haven't checked the gauge yet), and currently sitting at 50º F, with light rain as I type. The weatherman is predicting rain showers on and off all day, but a nice weekend.

    Mrs. C :angel1:

Last night, we had the most rain since February - 1.3" with an overnight low of 52º and today's high of 70º. After the rain clouds cleared away today, the skies were a beautiful blue with big white fluffy clouds and a wonderful breeze - BEAUTIFUL fall day!!!

    Mrs. C :angel1:

Very, very hot here, 40+C here during the day...

I was curious just how hot that was, so went to an online temperature conversion, and learned that 40ºC is equivalent to 104º F - TOO hot!! And you say it's been that hot and more. I'm sorry! Sounds like Phoenix, Arizona where my mom lives.

Around here, we can still expect some hot temps in October (eighties and nineties), but by November it starts to reliably cool down.

So even though we are expecting low overnight temperatures by the weekend (maybe the thirties), we will have pretty warm days, maybe into the eighties.

    Mrs. C :angel1:

The Mrs. just got off the phone with Leo Ciolino, the SF Bay Area weather man on a major radio station here (he's been calling her for over ten years now), and she reported relatively mild overnight temperatures (high forties) after yesterday's high of 80º F. He says we're looking at some COLD overnight numbers by the weekend (into the thirties).

    Chester :newyear:

Friday was overcast all day, almost threatening, but no rain after all.

Saturday was sunny and moderate temperatures, great for selling hot dogs near the beach, where a skin-boarding competition was taking place! Sunday promises to be just as nice!

    Chester :newyear:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have this vision of forlorn cows in snow drifts . . . but maybe I'm thinking farther north.

We had a little hot blast yesterday, went up to 91º F after an overnight low of 47º !

    Chester :newyear:

RAIN . . . we woke to the sound of rain this morning, for the first time in almost six months.

The couple of days leading up to that have had lots of clouds and lower temps to go with them . . . we topped out Thursday at 68º.

Quite a few events today could be affected by the rain . . . our grandson's soccer game, a friend's birthday party (supposed to be outdoors at the park), and also the hot dog cart. We'll see if it continues. Oh, yeah, did we mention - three of our kids are camping in Yosemite? Wonder if it's raining there?? :cry2:

    Chester :newyear:

Yesterday was surprisingly cool, but it was overcast most of the day. I don't think we got past 70º, after an overnight low of 58º.

Personally, I wouldn't complain if it NEVER got warmer than 75º!
