We had probably 10-12 inches of snow today in north Texas.

We had snow again today, everybody is looking toward spring but it's still far away...
In the states we have a publication called "The Old Farmer's Almanac" and it's known for predicting the weather fairly accurately. Last summer it was predicting an unusually harsh and cold winter. Looks like they were right. -
Makes one wonder if the Second Ice Age is not upon us.
-
it's been snowing here basically non-stop since last Thursday night at this point i'm pretty much ready for it to stop lol
Not true we have four seasons; almost winter, winter, still winter

Hasn't Australia been in a terrible drought the past few years, smokey? Sounds like a change. Is the rain widespread or just in Queensland? -
Not true we have four seasons; almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction
lol
Cute rejoinder. -
so ready for winter to be over
You need to move down our way, Country Girl. Because isn't it always winter in Minnesota?

Stumpy a BIG happy Birthday to your better half.
Thanks, Bill, I'll tell 'er. -
Rained all yesterday afternoon and evening - light dusting of snow this morning. So far the roads aren't too slick, though I don't intend to venture very far from home.
Tomorrow's the wife's 71st birthday so I need to go to the bank and get some cash in case she wants to go out for a nice meal somewhere (roads permitting). -
We're supposed to get another shot of [relative] winter tonight and tomorrow. Snow and ice.

It's gradually warming up in north Texas.
Usually, I prefer cold to heat but must admit that the cold lately has been a bit much. -
Speaking of which, we must be the lucky ones, because of the global warming happening around the world, and we are definitely not in that category. Right now we are at 27 while at this moment New York City is 34 and Anchorage is 42 with rain. We didn't get any snow, but did get about fifteen hundreds inch of rain/ice. We will be around 14 tonight before the big warm up to 32 tomorrow. Thinking I'll be watching some Duke movies this weekend.
Cheers
Sounds like the weather is bass-ackwards, doesn't it, Mike? Warmer up north than it is down south. -
How do you become an expert?
First of all, Art, you must be born into the Gore family. -
Sure is beginning to look as if "Climategate" has some validity.

More from North Dakota.
BTW, the picture of that yardstick was in the middle of my back yard, in a flat, level spot. That was not in a drift.

Stumpy,
Is that your New Red Truck wth the Snow On It ?
I am not sure if this old Desert Rat can take 3 more months of Weather !Bill
No, Bill, my new truck is a midnight blue. The red one I gave to my daughter about 3 years ago when her old jalopy bit the dust and she didn't have money to buy another. -
We're apparently suffering from "global warming" in north Texas. Today is the 23rd of December and our current temperature is about 70/75°F with bright sunshine. This afternoon I'm gonna smoke a brisket outside.
There's a saying popular with Texans that "if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute". The truth of that old cliche was brought home with jarring force this morning. First, look at how I described our local weather yesterday (23 Dec). Now look at what we have today (24 Dec).

fine days for this time of year

Some republicans make democrats look nice.
And vice versa. The truth of the matter is, they're ALL a bunch of bums. -
It Colder than A Witch's --- in Alaska here
That reminds me of a saying we used to have in the military, which was "It's colder than a well-digger's a$$ in Alaska". I think both those expressions mean it's pretty danged cold.
