"Very Bad Things," not a very appealing movie, supposedly a comedy, but I didn't find much amusing in it.

Well (SIGH) I was happily watching: Reunion in France, this morning on TCM wll the while a thunderstorm was rocking the area. John Wayne was making his first appearance in the movie when we lost power. Looks like I am DESTINED to never see this movie?
Carl - I watched this about 2 months ago and found this to be a Joan Crawford vehicle. John Wayne was only in the picture as window dressing for the ladies so you didn't miss a whole lot. There is maybe two action sequences where Duke shines, but otherwise Crawford was the main focus.

"A Simple Plan," a character-driven movie about three friends who find $4 million in a crashed plane in the woods, decide to keep it for themselves, resulting in a downhill spiral of bad happenings. Starred Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton and Bridget Fonda - everyone in the cast gave excellent performances.

"Alien Resurrection" with Sigourney Weaver as Ripley.

A side note: When I went to see the original "Alien" at the theater in 1979 (my wife went to see a Disney movie), I came out shaking in my boots, so to speak, and my wife said I was white as a ghost! Since then I have had a "soft" spot in my heart for this movie (and "Aliens", which was even better). "Alien Resurrection" was not as good, but better than "Alien3." -

"The Seven Ups," a cop movie with Roy Scheider made by the same people who made "Bullitt" and "The French Connection." Another good car chase sequence!

"The Patriot" with Mel Gibson. Pretty good Revolutionary War flick.

Hi Jay, that is a pretty good movie. Also has Carl Weathers and the JWMB's nemisis: Rutger Hauer (as the head bad guy).
Hi Carl - they look similar, but that was Billy De Williams who played Stallone's partner.

Watched "Nighthawks" last evening on pay cable. Pretty good Stallone flick!

"Poseidon" - left me feeling disappointed; can't explain why, but it just didn't click with me!

"A History of Violence," a fairly decent movie about a mobster who changes his name and lifestyle, but who is found out by his former cohorts after a number of years.

Watched several Bond movies on Encore yesterday.

I saw "Ghost Rider" as well last night. Actually was better than I expected, though it was predictable. Always like Sam Elliot in anything he does.

"The Zodiac" about the serial killler in San Francisco during the 60s and 70s. Rather an uneven film with no stars to speak of except Rex Linn who plays the cop on "CSI/Miami."

Watched "Superman Returns" - I wasn't totally pleased with this one - relied on too many special effects and the story just didn't seem to jell. This is a case of the original completely outdistancing this remake.

"The Quiet Man" was not really an action picture (except for the big bruhaha with the brother) which was a change for Duke. But the characterizations are solid and deep and the more times one watches this, it's bound to grow on you. Really one of my favorite John Wayne movies.

"Reunion in France" - this was apparently a vehicle for Joan Crawford with John Wayne second billed. But he didn't appear until 40 minutes into the movie. Actually rather dull with only a few minutes of action or suspense.

Watched "Flying Tigers" last night. A bit dated but still a good JW flick!

Moby Dick" on TCM yesterday. Sometimes goes over the top, but it has become a classic. Gregory Peck and Richard Baseheart are great in their roles!
