"Hatari" (which I feel could be considered a western as well)on TMC yesterday and "The Dirty Dozen" today on TMC.

"Tristan and Isolde," a story set in the middle ages. Trouble with this one, though, was that 90% of the scenes were dark and it was hard to tell who was who in the battle episodes . The only actor I was familiar with was James Franco (of the "Spiderman" movies). The rest were a rather monochromic bunch who could have been interchangable.

"Von Helsing," a so-so vampire movie more noteworthy for its special effects than its storyline. Sometimes it is hard to tell just what is going on .

"Firewall" with Harrison Ford. Pretty good suspense flick with the usual holes that crop up in a feature like this. But I would have to say that it was pretty enjoyable with enough twists to keep you guessing.

"Syriana" - wasn't what it was hyped up to be.
-
"Second Sight," a piece of scatterbrained entertainment.

"The Newton Boys," based on actual events in the '20s about brothers who were bank robbers.

I heard there were some nods to the Searchers in that movie, is this correct?
In that he was searching for his ex-wife! I'd say the connection was tenuous at best.

"War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise. A totally useless remake of the original - special effects DO NOT make the movie.

Another offbeat selection - "City by the Sea" - a Robert de Niro vehicle. Not exactly an upbeat film.

Watched "Dodgeball" - one of those goofy movies where the underdog comes out on top. Mostly silly, diversionary fare.

Watched another B- movie - "Scarred City" - with Steven Baldwin . About vigilante cops on the rampage. Wasn't really worth the trouble <_< .

"Puerto Vallarta Squeeze," a modern day "B" actioner with Scott Glenn and Harvey Keitel. Fairly interesting movie.

Watched "Cars" as well. I agree with Chester completely on this movie - very enjoyable. The cars as characters were so well etched and I thoroughly emphasized with the nostalgia element. There are many things of the 50s and 60s that I wish we could return to, not the least being our own John Wayne and his values.

"Over the Hedge" which has a couple of very hilarious moments.

"The Naked City" with Barry Fitzgerald. Well done police-proceedural movie for its time. All was filmed on location in New York.

Watched "Thunder Road," supposedly a cult favorite. Robert Mitchum was good, but the movie was so-so. Mitchum's son, James Mitchum, seemed stiff as a board with none of the charisma of his father. James appeared in one John Wayne movie, "In Harm's Way," as an injured sailor.

"Ghost Breakers" with Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard. One of Hope's best films with a good mixture of scaryness and comedy. Goddard is good eye-candy too !

Ron Howard sure knows how to make a movie!
Just saw in the newspaper this morning that "Opie" is going to be a grandfather! Where has the time gone?

"Firestarter," starring a slightly older Drew Barrymore from her "ET" debut. Fairly good SF movie with lots of pyrotechnics.
