I just started watching a bit of this on Versus. Looks like Lance is already going great guns!
-
I, for one, look forward to them. As for coverage, hopefully the Versus channel will provide that here in the states.
-
I caught that in the newspaper yesterday too, Sally.
-
Talk is that Lance Armstrong is coming out of retirement! That would be a shot in the arm!
-
Like Carl, but for other reasons, I have only caught spots here and there. I love the local landscapes, especially in the mountains.

The Versus Channel airs it live early in the morning here starting no later than 7 a.m.. But I think they repeat twice the rest of the day, once in the afternoon and again during prime time.

The 2008 "Tour de France" starts Saturday, July 6, and I, for one, am looking forward to it. It's a shame there is so much squabbling going on between the head of the "Tour" and the heads of the international organization plus the drug controversy. Hopefully all these contentious concerns will be overcome this year.

Apparently there was something on the Versus Channel earlier today involving cycling, but no further details. I bet that was it, but I wasn't aware of it. The rest of the day will be devoted to "Bull Riding" - no repeats are scheduled of the cycling as far as I can tell for today!

Great pictures, Sally - I especially liked the use in the third item of "O Fortuna" from Orff's "Carmina Burana" for musical emphasis!

Darn it!!! This was on the VERSUS Channel. No publicity so I didn't know about it beforehand. I'll have to try to be more observant.

I'll have to check the TV schedule on the off-chance it might be televised here!

Hey, Sally - Thank you for that link! I must say that my interest in cycling has increased several times over the last few years, especially since thread was added.

Looks like a new cycling season is in play! I'll have to check the channels to see what we might get here. Thank you, Sally.

Hi Sally - Thank you for the information. Looks to be an interesting spin on what we see on the Tour de France.

Landis
He will know by the end of this week if and how he will be punished for doping in the Tour de France last year.
I heard on the news today that the decision came down against him. That's a shame!

Except for the "Tour de France," there is very little notice of any of the other cycling events in my area. It might be different in some other areas of the U.S., but I figure that this sport is one that is much more popular in Europe.
In a way, this seems like the same situation with soccer (or football as it is known in other parts of the world). When my family was stationed in Frankfurt am Main in the mid-50s, I learned and played soccer with a lot of zest and spirit. When we returned to the States, no one knew what the game was and most hadn't even heard of it. Now, most high schools have a soccer team and even the professional groups are trying to get interest fired up around here.

Our paper had a story on this today. It's a shame that the most successful team sponsor (Discovery) in cycling in recent years is removing it's sponsorship. Unfortunately, the team has been unsuccessful in picking up another sponsor.

cobblestones
That looks like one of our Texas back roads!! Actually might be one of the potholed streets in San Antonio!!! LOL
By the way, just kidding about the falls and such!
Cheers - Jay -
Sally and Carl - You like to see them fall and want photos of the crashes, eh. You folks would have really liked the action in the Roman Coliseum in its heyday. Yeah, there is a certain perverse attraction to these happenings, just like we like to see the hits in football and crashes in auto racing. Of course, we always hope no one is hurt when these things happen.
