Super pics MB. The one of MV all alone is truly majestic and just FULL of history now that I know about it. And there is little Frankie all alone "blowing" the bugle! Read my post on Ward.....I am most excited, LOL! KP

Yep, it looks kinda "puny" Keith!
It should've been a Colt "Navy Six," as most cavalry officers during that time carried them.

I watched the movie last night. Seemed odd to me that it was so cold in Monument Valley in early July (assuming it took a couple of weeks for news of Custer's demise to reach the fort). I also was surprised by the buffalo...don't think there is enough grass for a herd of buffalo to eat in the valley. Problem with me is I have flown and driven all over that part of the country and know it pretty well. Still loved the movie!

They shot She Wore a Yellow Ribbon in late October and November and it was already freezing cold there. Since this isn't a documentary, I don't think it matters that history isn't followed 100 percent. The same with buffalo in Monument Valley -- it's always amused me that that location could supposedly support the ranchers of The Searchers, but again... it doesn't matter.
Some info about the firearms of She Wore a Yellow Ribbon:

I'm doing She Wore a Yellow Ribbon pictures over at the Ben page this week (http://benjohnsonscreencaps.shutterfly.com). First a candid shot of John Wayne, John Ford and Ben Johnson. Tomorrow I plan to re-post two pictures already posted here by Lasbugas, who I think may have the biggest John Wayne collection on the planet. The rest of the week will be scans of the latest SWAYR additions to my collection.

From a vintage still in my collection.

I don't think I've posted this before, but I keep meaning to.
During the scene where Tom Tryon (Quayne) is telling JW and the rest about being "ringed" by the Indians, while waiting for help that never came, McCarthy interrupts him.
While McCarthy is spouting off about it being Red Shirt (until Quayne cuts him off), the soldier sitting over Quayne's shoulder in this shot is MOUTHING everything McCarthy is saying AS he's saying it!!
Everytime I watch this scene I wonder how Pappy or Wingate Smith (assistant director and JF's brother-in-law) never caught it!!
Watch the scene, and be amazed!! It's unreal!

Oh, man. I'll have to dig the movie out this weekend, and watch it. Never notice that.
