    Hey,

Nobody mentioned Cat Ballou? What's wrong with that one. I mean it had Jane Fonda, she's one great american western gal.

    Just-a-Kidding.

I won't get it, and I won't see it or any Jane Fonda movie. I met with some Vietnam Vets on a weekend several years ago, and the subject came up about Jane, and one actually meeting with him as a POW. It was a very interesting conversation with the gentleman, that has enlighten me to no end about Hanoi Jane. And because I have a lot of respect for that man and others who fought in that war, I will not see anything she has on screen. That's my tribute to those men.

My vote goes to itdo on Game #5 with this:

FIELD MARSHALL ROMMELL (read with German accent): "Look over there, Gentlemen... how calm, how peaceful... But beyond the peaceful picture? John Wayne, waiting to be unleashed - against us! Believe me, Gentlemen... the first 24 hours of waiting till Wayne finally finishes his chess game will be decisive. For the allies as well as Germany - it will be the Longest Day!"

JOHN WAYNE: "Aaaw, the Baron showed this picture the wrong way round! Now I donno if I'm black or white!"
    :D

And now my caption for this picture.

Mary Kate: (whispers to Wayne): Did you know that your pants are unzipped, and you're not wearing any underwear?

    {The secret that Ford and O'Hara has kept from the world that has plaged Duke fans for 50 years.}

    REASR,

Very interesting to hear that. I was not aware. Curious to know how you know that? Duke's bio didn't say anything about that, and did say the cast had problems with Ms. Page. Just interested.

    Hondo

    Northerner,

You're tough! There are so many to choose from, and to pick out the best in my opinion has taken some time to think about.

I know that there is something better in my opinion, but this one sticks out in my mind right now.

The scene where Duke is sitting on the bridge in The Quiet Man, and looking at the cottage in the valley, while looking into what I think is deep thought. This is in the beginning of the movie.

    Reflections are great in movies.

    Hondo <_<

    Hey guys,

What about Claire Trevor . She was in (4) four movies with Duke.

    Great chemistry in Stagecoach.
Not so great in Alleghany Uprising, but a pretty good movie.
The Dark Command, can't remember too much about that one (I'll have to watch that on again to refresh my memory).
The High And The Mighty, what a great team in that movie.

    She was cool.

    Hondo ;)

P.S. Great choices above, just wanted to add another one to the list.

P.S.S. I'd pick to least favorites of Duke's female co-stars would be Geraldine Page. According to bio record of Duke, she was a broadway star coming to debut in the silver screen. She came in plain looking, and seem to believe that she didn't have to take a bath. She reeked of BO (body odor), and the cast could hardly stand to be around her, including Duke. They made fun of her behind her back, and Duke would never work with her again.

Amazing that so many Duke fans are younger (so far according to the vote) to not know him before he died. I just graduated from high school when Duke took to the final sunset so many years ago, and the same one we all will someday take ourselves. I was crushed by his death, and didn't realize at the time that he was 72 (he had a full life).

I guess without the internet (or even a home computer), as well as cable (yes, I know there was cable back then, but with very little stations around the country), or the information age, we didn't get as much news as we do today, so fast. Especially Duke being so sick. I do recall that we (my friends) were pulling for Duke to make his birthday, and also knew that Maureen O'Hara, Elizabeth Taylor and others were trying to get the U.S. Congress to pass a resolution to mark John Wayne a true American. The Congress passed the resolution and he received it in the hospital. Duke's comments were that he was truly honored to receive such a gift from the American people (not a direct quote). He died days later. I was 18 at the time and became an authentic Duke fan since.

I will say that he has made an impact in my life with his movies, and personal life. I am amazed that he is still very popular today; no, I take that back, I am not surprise that he is. He is what makes America great, and he does that with his movies and his actions. Duke is a role model to all; young and old; men, and women; boys and girls. Even if you are not a fan, you can't help know that Duke was a very authentic man. I'm not surprise that there are people around the world who also liked Duke. He paints a true picture of what America is.

It's our job (us Americans) to continue what Duke left behind. We are to continue to show everyone around the world what America is and what we stand for. Thanks Duke for your legacy.

P.S. Hey Bill, Wish you could have a legacy like that?

Here goes (a pretty tough one here Baron),

Duke: "Well, this beats the hell out of shooting those "SOB's", a friendly game of chess, and the winner, gets a chance to really go after Bin Laden, and his wimpy cave rats without the liberals knowing what's happening!"

    or

Duke: "I'm just wondering when the cameras are going somewhere else so we can get back to this war. These stupid folks back home think we're here teaching people how to be civilized by playing games, and caring for Hussan. I get tired of playing chess, when thousands are dying from this tyrant. And those idiots distort the damn truth, and keep blaming us. What the hell is this world going to?"

    or

Duke: "If I move here, what will happen to Hillary, and her sappy group of whinners?"

    Hondo

P.S. My votes for Game # 3 is dukefan1, and Game #4 is smokey

"My only regret is this isn't Jane Fonda."

    or

"I'm dreaming of the comments the NOW group will talk about years to come from this."

    or

"Do you think "The Shootister" will be offended by this sexist jesture."

    or

"Didn't learn fron your experiences in Ireland, well, maybe this time you will. Is that Northern Ireland, Western Ireland, six counties, southern Ireland, oh, the hell with that."

    Hondo ;)

WOW! Here I am! Number 100!

I want to thank my new friend Chester for the encouragement, and others who kept me in line with their great questions. I look forward to celebrating #500! Here we are Chester.

I guess you are next Robbie! Get there soon big guy.

P.S. This is so cool! Four squares!

    Well,

This is pretty hard, but I guess I would pick the western movie in a non-John Wayne capicity would be:

    The Magnificnet Seven.

There are many others I like but this one really pumps me up at times.

I do like My Darling Clemenine, High Noon (Duke didn't like that one), The Tin Star, The Rare Breed, just to name a few. Anyway, this is pretty hard due to the fact that Duke has the best ones in the western gerne, and no one comes close to that.

    Hondo B)

    Robbie,

You may be right, but I do enjoy other western actors, especially those who are in westerns with Duke. If I had to pick one western star after Duke, and that's a distant second; a long distant second, it would be:

    Clint Eastwood.

He was really good in Hang 'em High, and (I can't remember the other movie). I didn't really like The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly. It wasn't a bad moive, It just left me a bad taste. That's it for me on that subject. And yes, that was more than 20 years ago, so Unforgiven would qualify for that

    Hondo B)

Ethan: "Who'd you call me, buster?

Martin: "Sorry Hondo, I thought you were Tom Dunsom." "I keep getting mixed up with which movie we're doing."

Movie Caption #2 - The Spoilers is my vote.

    Hondo :D
