Mine are..... James Mason, seriously sexy voice, I would just be enthralled listening to his voice all evening, like a good luxurious Red Wine for your ears !! Sam Neill, teenage crush, need I say more !! Jane Seymour, a fellow Brit, achingly beautiful. Richard Armitage, a good actor, and intriguing personality.... And last, but not least Michael Palin, because, he has made me laugh for years, was ( and is) very handsome and a wicked sense of humour ..... Okay, maybe 5 guests was a little mean, can I have two gate crashers ..... JW and Marilyn Monroe ????

What good taste you have Gorch ! Of course, if I was of that persuasion , she would be in my top three too !!

This Summer is the 50th Anniversary of her death. I have always been a bit of a fan, and used to collect a lot of books about her. I also have all her DVDs, I was lucky to be given the whole collection as a gift ! One of the first MM movies, I watched was Niagara, and I liked the atmosphere, the photography and how she wasn't just playing a dumb, fluffy character ( as she did several times ). Never really liked the musicals she did, as I think she just wasn't strong enough to carry them off....

It's been so nice over the last week or so here in Maryland, that I actually had to cut my grass for the first time this year. That's a few weeks earlier than I usually start cutting. It seems we barely had a winter here. no snow to talk about at all. I love snow, so I felt robbed.

I know how you feel, I was looking forward to all the snow here, and we had hardly any !!! Two days of snow, when we usually get two months !!! I've got a long list of garden jobs I'll be getting started, just seems way too early !

JW being chased by " Injuns " in the first five minutes was a good start to a movie ! I enjoyed this one. Good storyline with trying to save the town. JW gets to do a little dancing, as I mentioned on another thread !!! The big fight scene was a bit confusing, a big group of men, all wearing guns, but fighting with their fists and bits of wood !?!? No one got shot at all !!! Also, great support from the other two Mesquiteers....

Just watched this one, another really early JW one !!! Noticed that when " JW " rescued his gal from the stampede, in the long shot he had no waistcoat on, and then seconds later, as he dropped her back to the safety of the wagons he'd put it back on !! Funny things you notice! Mae Madison in this, is a bit wooden. I think it's really obvious how young and inexperienced she was ( she was 18 , when she made this ) She actually had a part in another one of JW's earlier movies.... Words and Music (1929 )

I had seen this a long time ago, I think , but watched it again today. I enjoyed it, it reminded me a little of a type of Scooby Doo Western Style adventure. Spooky town, spooky house, people sent mysterious letters, strange going ons. Even a ghost causing trouble, well,a phantom !!! Plenty of action, great level of creepiness from the supporting cast, too. Blue Washington, was good, and I agree that you wouldn't see this type of role being played today, for obvious reasons.....

Duke saves JW from a certain death, hanging from the cable mining car after a good fight scene !!!

I watched her in Haunted Gold today, and thought she was good with JW . I had never heard of her either, so did a little reading on her and she had rather a sad later life.... Dying young at 47, from apparently a drugs overdose. She was poor and struggling at the end, no one claimed her after death and she was buried in Potter's Field....

Another promising starlet, who faded from the skies, and then fell on hard times.....

Found a nice photo which I wanted to add, remembering her at her brightest....

I'm trawling through some of JW's earlier movies at the moment Wtrayah, I think it is quite good to see how far he did go, how his acting improved, and that he had a long and very successful career..... I'm going to rewatch this one this week !!!

Just saw her with JW in two movies I watched today. She actually came across pretty good, doesn't look as scary as some of the earlier JW gals do !! ( not entirely the gals fault, I think it was the makeup and lighting at the time, plus I'm not a lover of the 30's kinda crimped hair-do look a lot of them sported!!)

I actually think she has a modern looking face, if that makes sense....I thought she was better in The Man From Monterey, than Ride Him Cowboy !

Just watched this today, as I'm rewatching some of JW's 1930's movies.... I, too, thought JW looked like a superhero swooping in to the rescue on that first poster, and I don't remember seeing JW's gal sporting that green modern looking dress !!!

The story wasn't that bad, and there is some good vibes between JW and his gal !!! Not as wooden as it sometimes is .......

It's funny you should quote Kurt Russell, Colorado Bob !! Having just rewatched The Horse Soldiers again, I spotted the name Bing Russell in the credits, who was, of course, Kurt's Father !!!
