This would have been a great film,if the role of Dickinson had been left out.
I feel she ruined this one.Talk about overacting!!
If it was left with the charactors of Wayne,Martin and Brennan,it would have been great.
And if Bonds charactor hadn't been killed off.

Darn good western!! -
The Dakotas appeared in the Cheyenne series. While Clint Walker was havng problems with Warners,The Dakotas was a stand in.But when Walker came back to work, the public wanted to see more of The Dakotas.
The series ran for only one season with 19 episodes however.
"Sanctuary at Crystal Springs"was the next to last episode, and also the reason for cancellation. The Marshals were after two killers that held up in a church.Elam and Everett stormed the church(during services)and killed them. There was outrage from the publc over this episode so it was canceled.
.......Now.........The pilot of The Dakotas!!!
Larry Ward(Marshal Frank Regan) came to town to find the killer of his wife.Chad Everett(Del Stark}was raised by the man who sent the kller.
Mike Greene(Vance Porter}was Sheriff of the town but the elder Starks puppet.Jack Elam(J.D.Smith)was a gunfighter Stark hired to kill Regan. But in the end they all joined in with the Marshal and became U.S.Deputy Marshals under Regan.
WESTERNS WERE CANCELED BECAUSE OF VIOLENCE...SOAP OPERAS ARE MORE VIOLENT TODAY!! -
I haven't seen my favorite here yet:
Jack Elam,now there's an actor!! -

Not a bad series but the cut down Winchester has always bothered me. The fact that the magazine may have held maybe 4 rounds and one in the chamber,McQueen always manages to get of 7 to 8 shots in a shoot out.The empties that fly into the air look like about .44-40 size but the rounds on his belt are probably 45-70's,almost twice as long as the 44-40. If he actually chambered the 45-70 rounds in the stubby rifle I doubt it would hold more than 2. In the modern tv series of the Magnificient 7 the one actor also uses a cut down Winchester. The McQueen legacy lives on...
Actually the gun held 6 rounds. And they are for sale now as pistols.

I always wondered what became of John Smith. He seemed to have a short run in the 50's and early 60's as a leading man type but, sort of disappeared of the screen after Laramie went off the air.
After Laramie, Smith starred in the "The Rounders" 1966.
He died n 1995 at the age of 63 -
Wanted:Dead or Alive was a spin off from the "Track Down" seres starring Robert Culp. Dead or Alive pilot was shown there.
