I've always liked Rio Lobo a lot, ever since I saw it for the first time around maybe 10 years ago. Glad you can finally enjoy it, 40 years later.

A print-on-demand Blu-ray? Man, that sucks. Duke deserves so much more.

My jaw dropped when I read that The Duke didn't like working with Kim Darby, and that others feel she was bad in the role. I thought she was great! I'm also surprised no one has commented on the remake of True Grit in this thread. Maybe you have elsewhere on the forum?
This is one of my favorite Duke westerns, it's damn near perfect. Great acting, directing, music, locations. One for the ages!

This thread, dedicated to one of the greatest actors of all time, needs a bump.
Recently received two Jimmy Stewart movies on Blu-ray:
The Glenn Miller Story and Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington was recently released on Blu-ray with superb audio and video quality., highly recommended!

Twilight Time just announced that Brannigan will be released on July 8th in their Limited Edition series of 3000 copies.
-
Nice. Didn't expect anything less from this. Hopefully I'll get it later this week.
-
Beautiful!
That's a saver!

I don't own any Twilight Times Blu-rays, but I've heard nothing but good thing about the label. They even postponed this release date because they wanted to work on the print some more.
-
Yes, I noticed that as well. In fact, there's less special features than on the Extended Cut DVD. It's missing a featurette or two, good thing I won't part with my beloved DVD anyway.

I'm not sure they've limited the amount to 2 per person. I checked by adding 3 in my basket and they let me.
Anyway, I ordered 2 copies. Almost every order I put in with SAE arrive with a broken case (leading to inserts and such getting damaged) due to them sending their stuff in padded bags, except when I order three CD's or more. Doesn't matter if it's an expensive limited edition CD I'm buying, same kind of packaging material. Never bought a Blu-ray from SAE before so I got two just in case one arrives in poor shape. It's limited to 3000 copies, if I would have ordered only one and it arrived damaged, I may not had been able to get another since they may sell out.

Oh yes, I love it. Here's the special features and goodies included
- Remastered feature film
- Commentary by John Carpenter and film critic Richard Schickel
- Wayne trailer gallery
- "The Men Who Made the Movies: Howard Hawks" (1973 documentary)
- Two all-new featurettes: "Commemoration: Howard Hawks' Rio Bravo," "Old Tucson: Where the Legends Walked"
- Press book
- Dell comic book
- Lobby cards
All very interesting for fans. -
Yes, I would rather have had him instead of Nelson on the cover.

Rio Bravo - Ultimate Collector's Edition

There are over 10 more of these B-western titles released under the same company that I'll be getting. I like that they "go with each other", appearance wise, though I'm not thrilled about a picture of Hondo and his dog being on the covers.
-
Wow, even John's 50-minute B-westerns from the 30's are getting the Blu-ray treatment. That's pretty impressive.
Have any of these titles previously been released on VHS and/or DVD?

Welcome, Earl!

It didn't work on my DVD player, but worked with the push of a button on my Blu-ray.
