Hi everybody,
last Friday I’ve been at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, to see La Fanciulla del West (The girl of the golden west) by Giacomo Puccini.
Somebody have ever observed that the scene in Minnie’s house, when the outlaw Ramerrez, wounded and chased by the sheriff hides under the roof, it’s almost equal to that of Howard Hawks’s “Rio Bravo”, when the Pat Wheeler’s killer was chased by J.T.Chance?
Guess my surprise on seeing this!
All the best from Italy, see you last summer... I'll be back to U.S.A.!

Very interesting read of Rio Bravo, El Dorado and Rio Lobo all Hawks films and have similar themes.
Howard Hawks' "RIO BRAVO" Remade (?) as "EL DORADO" and "RIO LOBO" Starring John Wayne

Rio Bravo has always been a personal favourite of mine however wouldn't James Caan have been a far better 'Colorado' than Ricky Nelson? (taking into account Caan's performance in El Dorado) Also, is it true Hawk's toyed with the idea of casting Elvis in the 'Colorado' role or is that an urban legend?

I don't know about the Elvis casting idea, but I do remember reading that Ricky Nelson was used in the film to draw a younger crowd to the film. It would have been cool seeing Elvis try that roll! The King and The Duke? I would have paid to see it.
