  • Comanche Territory Is a 1950 Technicolor Western
    directed by George Sherman,
starring Maureen O'Hara and Macdonald Carey.
Jim Bowie is sent into Comanche country by the government
on a mission to draw up a treaty allowing the government
to mine silver on the Indian's turf.

Maureen at her best, similar to Cheyenne Autumn,
in at least seeing the Indians side of things.

This film has got quite a few things going for it, first Maureen O´Hara looking her best, the fact that it shows the native Americans as being good people and defending their interests and being absolutely right. The most interesting aspect that I found is the character of Jim Bowie and his famous knife. We see the knife many times, with the details described and we also see how the knife is made. The guns that people carry are also different from your average western, they look older and they carry them in front under their belts. Bowie for example carries his knife in a holster where normally you would put your gun. The colors and scenery are outstanding, and the fact that you see O´Hara punching guys will sure delight the feminists.

  • I saw "Comanche Territory" today. We have a group called Koch Media in Germany, that releases many old western movies on DVD, so I could watch it.

I would not call "Comanche Territory" a real great Western-movie. For me the story was more a B-Western type, but it was great fun to watch it and Maureen O´Hara was real great!

  •

First Western for Maureen when she became expert in the use of the whip. The clip begins with a song where Maureen finds himself very comfortable to interpret ...

This is an entertaining film, nice. To watch with whole family ...

    A small clip ...
