  • According to the majority of media analysts, the San Antonio Spurs are in a small marketing area (number 37th to be specific), but regardless of that, the Spurs rose above adversity to win the NBA Championship last night from the Cleveland Cavaliers - the fourth time they have won a championship in the last nine years and the third time in the last five. Folks are calling the Spurs a dynasty now and maybe some naysayers will start to pay attention more closely.
I'm not that great a fan of basketball, but San Antonio's Spurs deserve a lot of respect and the fans here are going wild. What I am most proud of is that this city will party but no one will find any rioting or looting. The previous three times the Spurs won the Championship Trophy, the fans partied with nary an incident.

  • Our team got a very warm welcome when they arrived at San Antonio International from Cleveland yesterday afternoon. Hundreds of fans were on hand, braving the heat, to welcome and cheer them.
There is going to be a big river parade for the Spurs Sunday at 6 p.m. and a big celebration at the Alamodome later at 9 p.m. All will be televised locally.
