I really enjoyed watching her in both of Duke's movies; I wished she could have appeared in a few more.

I noticed he is listed in IMDB as having been in Mclintock! but I don't recall seeing him. Could someone please refresh my memory? Thanks!

I watched Mclintock! this past weekend and that started me wondering about the house location. Thanks Chester, for the web link. I also learned from the site that the house was used in the film Oklahoma.

Does anyone know if the Mclintock house was real or just built for the set? I was also wondering if anyone could identify the attractive actress who plays young Ben Sage's sister. She is featured in several scenes, but I have never seen her name listed anywhere.

Milton Kibbee, Guy Kibbee's brother, also appeared with Duke in In Old California as Ezra Tompkins. Even with the character name I still haven't picked him out. If someone could point him out to me in either movie I would greatly appreciate it!

If you are a fan of Alfred Hitchcock, check out The Trouble with Harry. Mildred played a major role.

I always enjoy spotting all the members of the stock company whenever I watch a John Ford movie. Of course, I like to see Jack Pennick show up (which he almost always did). He appeared in Liberty Valance, but not in Donovan's Reef. This was filmed on location shortly before Jack died.... I don't know if he was not well enough to travel to Hawaii for the filming, but I sured missed seeing him in the movie.

Hi Ringo!
I used to spend a few Summers in Transylvania and I visited the castle that inspired the author of Dracula. If I can dig through my old photos, I'll try to send a pic. The castle is located in a village called Bran. Its a very poor area and the locals really play up the vampire legend for tourism purposes. There really was a person whom the Dracula legend was based on, but he never lived there. Actually, the true history was much more frightening to me than the made-up story.

Folks,
Haven't noticed this in the discussion list, but I read in USA Today that Sheree North passed away last friday (November 4) from complications from surgery. You may remember her as Serepta, Duke's old flame in the film The Shootist.
Ringo,
You're right - I have Destination Tokyo on dvd and John Garfield is in that film.

Hi Ringo,
Yes, I am a big fan of both. I've seen the movies they showed on TCM before, but I always watch them whenever I can. I don't know which movies they did that I list as my favorites because I like all of them. Cagney was in Mister Roberts with John Ford's regular cast of actors.
Edward G Robinson would be another great actor I would list with these guys.

Hello folks,
I'm not over the hill, yet; but there are few things on today's television that
interests me. Other than TCM, History channel, and the Weather channel,
I only watch football and my dvd collection.
Whenever I'm on the road I always pack some of Duke's dvds to play
on my laptop. I usually don't watch tv unless it's football season.

Hi Ringo,
I really enjoy Santa Fe Trail. I don't think it is very accurate historically, but there is a lot of fine action with a great cast.

Hello Jay,
I was just wondering since Texas has two Pro football teams, who do most people in
San Antonio root for?
-ncb
Hi Chillibil.
I know the Moab area has changed since filming Rio Grande, but can someone still
recognize locations as we can at Monument Valley; and are any directions available?

Carl,
I hope you're now enjoying the food...
Glad to have you back!

Thanks so much for the responses. The rocks I was thinking of do resemble a pyramid and so I think you have identified exactly what I was referring to. I'm hoping to get a chance to visit again this summer and will certainly be looking for these.
I took a photo on my last visit without really knowing where I was, and after watching the films more I discovered I had taken a photo of the sand dune that Debbie runs down to meet Ethan and Martin - so it was a bit of a treat for me.

I usually have a bag I'm carrying through the airport to make a connection and there is always someone in front of me slowly pulling his luggage on wheels and talking on the cellphone at the same time.
I do have a cellphone but don't use it all that much - mostly its a convenience whenever I travel and don't have to pay the tolls. I don't have a tone from Duke's movies but I would get one if I found it!

Folks,
I've been to Monument Valley and can identify most of the locations when I watch a film. One location that I don't recall and I have no photos of is the rock formation shown near the end of Fort Apache. These are where the bugler is shot from his horse. These sames rocks are also in the opening scene of Yellow Ribbon where Ben Johnson and Cliff Lyons chase down the runaway stagecoach.
I'm guessing this location may be around Goulding's lodge, but as I mentioned before I don't recall seeing them. Can someone identify these? If I ever get back to MV I will certainly look for these. Thanks.
