I love this movie and tend to watch it over and over again! Even though I have a hard time watching Crockett's "ending" I really enjoy the fact he goes out with a bang.

It's about time! I couldn't believe the only place bearing his name was the airport.

If you go to johnwayne-thealamo.com, you can find some photos of what Alamo Village currently looks like, and it's not good. It's becoming quite overgrown, especially in the Alamo compound itself. In the courtyard directly in front of the church and near the main gate, some mighty tall greenery has popped up and it's beginning to hide the church from view as you walk in. Unless someone steps up and buys this place, it won't be long till it's disappeared under a desert jungle.
This makes me quite sad.

Unless I just forgot about this series, I had no idea it existed. They should have know it couldn't touch the movie. Some things should be left alone.

Agreed! I saw photos of this series when I visited Buckskin Joe's in CO a couple of times. They apparently filmed both the movie and TV show there. I never bothered looking into the series because it just wouldn't ever come close to the movie.

I have always loved the line Duke uses at Katie's grave, to the Sheriff, " You've been trying real hard not to tell me something, Billy"
Mark
"Don't go poke in' around John, all it will get ya is trouble"

The music is wonderful too!

One of my favorites. I really enjoy how confused Dean's character is after this scene when Duke bluffs the villain about the family playing Blackjack together.

I know this is an old thread but has anyone heard lately in what condition/state the Alamo village is in?

Hi everyone!
I am so glad I found a place/people I can share my John Wayne enthusiasm with! I have been a fan since the early 90's [I wasn't around too much before that ;)] after watching "True Grit" for the first time. I really enjoy all of his films but his westerns tend to be my favorite. I really hope to learn new things about my favorite cowboy from you wonderful folk! Thank you for letting me join!
