    Rooster is still here......still fire up Duke DVD's every now and then, and pop by the board. Haven't said much, but do look at the few updates that have happened........and the Duke still ROCKS!

  • Ebay Finds

    Guess many of you saw the latest Duke treasures on Ebay.....his shirt and pants from The Searchers went for a pittance....a mere $18,000. The hat he wore with that outfit went for....$15,000. And a cast/crew mug from that movie went for $1,200.

  • The Horse Soldiers (1959)

    Althea Gibson...(Lukey)


    Guess I have to get out more...this thread inspired me to watch the movie again, and subsequently do a little research on Althea Gibson. Wow, what a gal. She broke the color barrier in tennis, and won 11 majors in the late '50's, including Wimbledon and the French Open. After that, she took up golf and joined the LPGA, playing in 171 events. She also went on tour with the Harlem Globetrotters. Her acting career was actually very limited. There is a good website on her career if anyone wants more info.

  • Who Would Be Your Idea For The Perfect

    Didn't see him on the list, but I just don't see that Robert Duvall can be left off it....True Grit, Lonesome Dove, Open Range....great character cowboy. Glad to see Ben Johnson made the list....one of the unsung in my opinion, and could he ever ride a horse......Grant

  • Open Range

    Just rented the DVD of Open Range, and it is a MUST for our library. (Okay, I'm slow.) Off to Evilbay I went, and found that there are two different versions. One cover shows individual faces, the other shows someone standing in the shadow of a doorway. What gives? Anyone know?
