Eli Wallach-Magnificent seven
Karl Malden-Nevada Smith
Emilio Estevez-Young Guns (technically Billy the kid was a bad guy)
Michael Biehn-Tombstone
Powers Booth-Tombstone
Russell Crowe-3:10 to yuma
I cant think of many oldschool western bad guys outside of John Wayne movies that I liked.

rascal flatts= horrible. not country, not by a damn sight. I forgot to include Marty Robbins on my list and lots others too but some of this new stuff is just country because it isnt anything else.

A littlte
but I feel the Duke was robbed of an oscar in "Red River" and "The sands of iwo jima" but definitely got his due in this movie. First Duke movie I saw, one of my favorites of all time

I agree, not just one of the best westerns but one of the best movies ever period.
-
I had no idea Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen butted heads they worked so good together I guess thats why they're great actors and we watch their stuff. I will say this: If Yul Brynner isnt one of the all time best bad asses in this movie I dont know who is

the thing that sticks out to me in this film is that when the good guys are hit they dont show blood but when the germans are hit (at least the leader of the germans at the water hole) they showed blood I thought this was symbolism but I could be over thinking it, either way a great movie. thank you Keith for adding it to the list

well said, captain dan, I remember that part from the first time I saw it 20 something years ago and I just watched it a few weeks ago and now I have a son and I understand the courage and sacrifice my own father had that scene will stay with me forever
-
I also say "The Shootist" and "The Cowboys" because he was shot in the back by a "6 fingered busturd" in "The sands of iwo jima" he didn't have to die but he didn't much to live for either
-
I never saw this show but Im a huge Mcqueen fan in fact my wife shot down naming our son Steve Mcqueen Egan because she thinks kids will make fun of him
-
I dont remember that show but I do remember the wild, wild west Jim west was a straight shooter and a snappy dresser. By the way, was the guy who played Artimis Gordon also in the magnificent seven?
-
Hey Cowgirl, I agree with you on the shootist but I have to disagree on north to alaska because that role needed a dark haired girl who didnt speak perfect english and that was Capucine mabey even Sophia Loren
-
I like "The quiet man" Maureen O'Hara is an all time classic hottie
-
pepe le pew, like him Im a huge fan of the mating ritual
-
1975, the range of ages makes me think the Duke will live forever
-

Hello, this is my first post but I've been a member for a while (big time procrastanator) Im glad that Duke fans have a place talk. I have a question, how do I get a picture in the upper left hand side of my post like everyone else? Personal info: saw first John Wayne movie at 6yrs old (true grit) 5mo. later named first dog "Duke" (great dane, and great he was)
