Still watching: "Robin Hood Robin Hood, riding through the glen, Robin Hood Robin Hood, with his merry men, feared by the bad, loved by the good, Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood. He called the greatest Archers to a Tavern on the green"----da da da da da...................

The ones I dont mind watching if nothing at all is on? is that Restaurant Impossible show-and the Restaurant Stakeout show. Stakeout lately is WAY too scripted for me--but the other still seems to have some substance to it. Other than that--ill watch: Bait Car, as well as that top 20 countdown videos show. The rest--I never liked and or now just cant stand.

Always thought Steve was under-rated. I enjoyed every time he showed up. Saw him in "Flaming Star" as Elvis' older brother and thought he stole the show. Don't forget he was in "The Longest Day" with Duke.
Vaya con Dios, Steve. We deal in lead, friend.
Another great one he was in was: Prisoner of War w/ Ronald Reagan, Spies Like Us w/ Chase and Akroyd-and I THINK he was in: Take the High Ground w/ Widmark, Malden and Russ Tamblyn.

When they were giving the award to Nicholson, Pacino, De Niro, Ford, Streep, Hanks and Michael Douglas, Paul Newman was still living and should have been recognized long before any of them. I always figured he turned it down. He wasn't much for ceremonies. He said he burned his tux on his 70th birthday.
I agree, Paul Newman deserved the award more than the mentioned above-though I like some of the names mentioned.
-
I just talked to the AFI. True that you have to be alive to get the award. I mentioned so many names that should have been on there. The lady explained that some people don't want it......she mentioned Katherine Hepburn.......she turned it down. The board is the only one to nominate and vote. The lady stated that there is no way to petition for someone to be put up for admittance. But, I suppose folks could still try if they got enough people on a petition.......put forward a good case on why the person should be a member, etc.
I think the American PUBLIC should start its OWN awards and go back to the beginning of films. NOW, THAT is a big project, LOL. BUT, if promoted and publicized enough and made easy enough for folks to vote, we might FINALLY know who the PEOPLE who COUNT think are tops in their fields throughout the years. Big project for someone who is retired.....get together a lot more retired films buffs, set up rules and regs, get sponsors, get a publicity firm, a law firm, etc...........Welllllllllllllll, just a thought, LOL, KEITH
To me, what they told you from afi is--that these "choices" are NOT really choices--its all fixed.

Black Hawk Down & Carbine Williams.

"I've always thought Olivia de Havilland should have been honored." I agree, just look at this picture of a young Olivia and Errol Flynn.
Same here. And--Long Live Olivia. :-))

Saw several utube videos showing that freak from the UK who needs to be deported) piers morgan--lose every gun argument it participated in. Ted Nugent, Jesse Ventura and a pretty lady who is one of Americas top best shooters--gave that freak a new feature that no other alive has.:lol:;lol:

Haha with change always comes problems. suppose we'll just have to get used to it. Your really growing your collection fast Ringo!
They can keep the change--the change of how to post images is insane IMO. I have a hard time doing just what Keith Payne taught me as it is.

Great scoop on obtaining those stills, Carl. Good hunting!
Agree that the new still posting process is much inferior to the old method. I cant figure out how to post an 8x10 at its proper size. There's a new intrusive step which requires you to select a URL but then tells you that the image is either too big or too small and can't be posted. At best you can post a jpeg that may be enlarged - but the picture quality is sub par.
I have many more rare stills that I would be happy to post, but can't be bothered with this crap, which I freely admit is caused by my own techno incompetence. We deal in lead, friend.
Thank you Bill. Also, I figured id bite the bullet on these since they have been available for months and im surprised nobody got them. The seller also had a few lobby cards too-but at about $50 each. About a year ago-I saw a set of 8--for $50.00.
Also, I have a great line for a bunch of original stills from: 7th Cavalry w/ Randolph Scott and Jay C. Flippen. The seller said he would give me a 20% discount if I buy from his store? which im going to see about doing in June. I want all of his 7th Cav images and will see if he will let me make more than one payment? I think he has around 20 or so images and some on ebay right now. I dont know what Key Book Photos are? but he has two of those as well and said on the back Van Pelt.
Same here on wanting to post images-they go back to the easier way and ill contribute more. If not? guess my days of participating more than words-is over.
