Olive Films have announced via FB that The Sands of Iwo Jima will be released on Nov 11 2014. Its up on Amazon now for pre order.

I know these releases can be of good quality but lacking real extras. Given the importance of the movie maybe there will be an extra this time.

I know there was a making of ... documentary by Leonard Maltin included on the 45 th Anniversary Republic release vhs NTSC version (that I still have).

Olive included Maltin's Docs on Rio Grande and the Quiet Man when they released those movies. so who Knows??

I am sure more info will appear as we get nearer to date.

    Hi all,

I have discovered I have lost (due to corrupted hard drive on dvd recorder) my copy of the BBC "Reputations: John Wayne the Unquiet American".

I thought it had been backed up but apparently not. aghh!

Would be happy to discuss options if anyone can help.

    Thanks

    Hi Arthur. No problem.
Don't know If you have sky plus or hd but then you can hook it up to Internet and then use the sky on demand service and access i player and save it.

If not I might be able to help

    All the best

    Hi everyone.

Couldn't see reference to this already so thought I would alert you all. On saturday TV on BBC 2 in the UK there was a BBC tv show called "Talking Pictures"

It was a retrospective of Duke's career - not really any info but it used long sections of interviews he gave to UK sources.

A longer section of the Parkinson interview that I have ever seen from 1974 - about blacklisting and Nixon etc

A sit down Interview re the "Alamo" when it opened in London -

Some general conversation about his career on the set of "Chisum"

a longish interview and camercrew following him in Chicago for an awards presentation and from the "Shootist" set on to the Wild Goose with some of the Kids.

I know it has passed but is available on demand via the UK BBC i player.

Not sure if our non UK friends can access the i player from overseas but just thought i would put it out there.

    Best regards

Hi all jus tthought I would share this with you all. Hope it is the right spot.

Surfing the amazon world today i found a proposed ne book on Duke due out in May this year.

    Hi every one.

John Wayne: The Genuine Article by Michael Goldman.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pro…/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_d0_i1?

It is due to be published in May this year and is meant to contain family pictures, reproductions of letters etc. Sounds like it could be another great addition to our shelves.

The book Is classed as authorized by Wayne Family with a preface by Ethan.

Does anybody have any more info about it other than the dust jacket tag lines?

Looks like this could be a great companion to the Wayne Enterprises "John Wayne the Legend and the Man" piece from december.

    Have a great weekend.

    Hi all

I actually bought that book for christmas. It was a W.H.Smith "exclusive" in the UK.

For my US friends WH Smith is originally a Book seller in UK but now covers a multitude of newspapers, candies cds dvds etc.

I was going to ask that question about Star Wars as I saw the trivia. Never get round to posting things.

    Well done LT Brannigan.

    Thanks for the link Hawswill

Hi every one. Just watched Rio Grande again this weekend. I Have a little continuity blooper to add to list.

Through the early part of movie the Duke's suspenders show a hole On right side chest . This is the result of the arrow wound he receives at the end of the rescue mission. Obviously filmed out of sequence.

PS Love reading all the great info and comments from other members.
