I have a really terrible copy of Flashing Spikes but Duke only did a cameo as the umpire of an Army baseball game in Korea. Jimmy Stewart played the older baseball player with Pat Wayne as the rising star.

Haven't watched it in a while but I'm pretty sure there are scenes at the beginning of Men are Like That (In Old Arizona) where he was a football player prior to being commissioned in the Army

This could go in several different folders but I'll put it in here and if EthanEdwards wants to copy it anywhere else... I know he will. ;)

This picture got me in trouble last night. I showed it to my wife as I am amazed at how good Claire Trevor looks in it. The wife then says "wow, it was taken on our wedding say". I am now in trouble for not noticing that. I dug the hole a little deeper by making a comment that I could have been at Cannes for an hommage to John Ford nstead of at the wedding.

I've been watching these B movies again lately and watched this one last night while riding my eliptical machine. Something caught my eye in one sequence. At one point in the film Duke sends the child off on his horse leaving him afoot. He outsmarts, and out fights, Yak and his gang, takes one of their horses and drives the rest off. A few minutes later they recover their horses, with the help of another outlaw, and they all mount up and ride away. They should have been one horse short as Duke still had the one he took. I guess when you're cranking out a movie a week you don't have time to count or put a scene in like in True Grit where Chenney gets left behind.

Sounds like a lady who knew what she wanted and never looked back. Anyone who is married for 56 years is a star in my book. Condolences to her family.

Is this an alternate ending? In the finished film, Duke is on the ground after jumping from the wagon, when he shoots Christopher George.

Suspect this is just staged. George never got his guns level in teh closing gunfight either. Just because I notice details, look at the two pistols. The left one is cocked and the right one isn't. Duke's rifle is way off line and George has him covered. This gunfight would have had a different outcome.

Here's a picture of him this past summer when they were unveiling one of the Oriole Hall of Fame statues at Camden Yards. From left is Cal Ripken Jr, Eddie Murray, Earl Weaver, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson and Jim Palmer. All these men played under most of Earl's Years as manager. They made him great as well as vice versa.

The only two in that group I would not have recognized immediately are Earl and Brooks. The rest look just like older versions of my baseball cards. I would have figured out Earl and Brooks by the company they keep.

It was somehow nice to hear that Earl was on an Orioles promotionnal cruise when he passed. He was still loved by the fans,

I cant remember if his Stoney Brooke--Three Mesquiteers movies are on DvD or not? Ive longed to have the entire Mesquiteers series on DvD. I think there are about 34 of them made.

Anywya, I think have all the ones you mentioned above. I saw one fo those Duke Westerns that was on one of those $1 dollar DvDs you used to be able to get at WalMart--and saw it on a friends flatscreen TV when they bought one for around $6,000 about 5 years ago. Even unrestored--it looked and sounded great.

Some of the Mesquiteers are on DVD. I think Duke only did 8as Stoney Brooke though there were 51 total.

Over the last three nights I have watched Somewhere in Sonora, Man from Monterey, and The Telegraph Trail. All starring Duke and Duke. Pretty clear resolution on all of them as I watched while riding my eliptical machine. Pretty standard B movie storylines. Duke the hero fights off evil and gets the girl while Duke the Wonderhorse does something special to help save the day.

I posted a congrats to BatjacAuburn somewhere else so guess I better do it in the correct place!

    Congratulations on 200 posts!

    Keep em coming

Thanks to you and everyone. There's probably three worthwhile nuggets in those 200
