Everything is boxed and in the back of the truck to take to the UPS drop-off tomorrow. One 40 lb. and one 50 lb. box. All I can say is it was working flawlessly when I unplugged it... hopefully UPS takes good care of it. It should be there early next week... time for a nap!

Well, the box from SXViper came in today and I was about ready to
    :headbonk::headbonk::headbonk::headbonk:
him a few times when I went to put in the video card and the power cable was missing. I felt like the Wizard of OZ having to dig down into my box of goodies to look for just the right cable I needed to connect the video card to the computer's power supply. That's one reason ATI video cards are a pain. Fortunately when my hand came out of the box I had the right cable. So the better video card is installed and the system, once I pack it, will be ready to ship out tomorrow.

It will come in two boxes, with the monitor in one and the computer and components in the other. Each box will have it's own power cord in it, don't mix them up please. You will also have to plug in the mouse, keyboard and monitor and sound card into the back of the computer. Be very careful when you plug these in, they go a certain way so if you haven't set one up before take care. The very bottom plug is for your Internet RJ45 connector. It is a tower case so stand it straight up, not on it's side.

The hard drive is 160 GB but because of the BIOS it only formats out to 150 GB and after installing the operating system and a few pieces of software you still have 97% of the hard drive still available.

It does make a little noise, the power supply, CPU and video card all have cooling fans on them. Plus the hard drive makes a little noise, just the discs rotating.

The main thing is, one box is 40 lbs. and the other is 50 lbs. So if you have a back like mine, don't try and lift these things yourself. I'll PM you when I have tracking numbers for you. But they won't go out now until tomorrow.

Had to delete my post already... for some reason I was up late and got a wild you know what you know where... all of them are done and some of you know where they are. If you don't then please ask those who do, like gt12pk... Enjoy!

P.S. The two you wanted in Rio Bravo... I had to find and the 2nd one also had Walter singing in it.

Yeah... but I talk a lot. Retired/disabled and I'm only 52, on the computer all day long, nothing to do. Watch John Wayne movies all day, read John Wayne books and chat on John Wayne forums and work for Wayne Enterprises. What could be better in my last years. Dreams do come true!

He knows an icon when he sees one. Duke has always been pretty popular in the UK probably because of Maureen and others that were in the old westerns that came from the UK. At least he's not one of the new generation that says, "who's that?" Unfortunate for Ratcliff, I think after the HP movies are over so is his career. He will be stuck in that role for the rest of his life. Much like others are that stick with one role for several years. I would hope that he goes from the last movie to maybe a set of speaking engagements and then take a few years off. Then maybe he could pop out in a new role of some sort. But at least he has excellent taste knowing who John Wayne is.

Congratulations also go out to DakotaSurfer (cane and all  ) for his 1200th post.

Pretty soon, someone here will have one hundred posts doing nothing but congratulating others for their next milestone. But hey, that's not a bad thing is it?

Hope I don't get tripped up when I get to 1200!!!

Here's one for you 12pk... watch out for the cane...

    Cane <---Click here.

I can live without The Simpsons but there are a few movies I want to see yet this year...

    • The Bourne Ultimatium
    • Underdog
    • Stardust (Saw the trailer yesterday... excellent, sort of like Narnia)
    • Halloween (Remake of the original... have to wait to see the trailer)
    • 3:10 to Yuma (Not sure what to think of it yet)
    • The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (Another western)
    • Saw 4
    • Darfur ( I hope this movie wakes up some countries)
    • Enchanted
    • The Golden Compass
    • AVP2
    • National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets (Nicholas Cage... it will be good)

You broke my back... I used to be young... now everywhere I go they ask if I want "senior" tickets or discounts. They asked my wife once and I thought she was going to choke that blonde's head like a pimple and that was the last night of the Winterset celebration, we went to the 20Plex close to the Marriott to see Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. When we were in Nashville, they asked if she was my daughter. So people kind of stink at guessing our ages. I guess this is as good a place as any for my post 1200. That darn gt12pak is moving up fast. When he gets close I'll stick my cane out to trip him...

It would be nice to see some of the members we gained from the two celebrations get to this level eventually. We still have less than 50 people with over 100 posts. Only 17 of those are over 1000. So 49 people have 47,418 posts, an average of 968 per person. I've slowed way down trying to keep track of more than just here.

The wife and I saw the new HP movie... Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

It was a damn good movie, but I've liked all of them. I can sort of see the way this series will probably go. I'm waiting like everyone is to read the final book. But I think this will be the second longest movie series that will make any decent money beside Star Trek that has gone 10 movies, soon to be 11. Star Wars only went 6 movies. I don't count movies like Friday the 13th Part 8. I really think overall, the HP movies will probably bring in more money than the Star Trek series and maybe the Star Wars series of movies. I'd give this movie 3 stars.

3 more book to add to my list...

    ..........

The first one is actually a 40th Anniversary collector's edition that came with the big book you see in the picture, a large and mini-lobby card, a 40th Anniversary VHS copy of the movie and an Exhibitor's Manual. It was all packaged in the long case you see in the photo. A really nice addition. The second book is absolutely huge, the thickest book I have so far full of photos and info on every single movie he made, almost. It is 333 pages, has a 16 page color photo section and has a ton of B&W images. It will take me days to thumb through this book. The last book is very thin but is all images and some pretty good ones.

Well, a few changes to your new computer. I decided that the small hard drives would really do you much good with everything that the Internet would make you have to see some of the things your missing now so I went out to Walmart and just picked up a bigger hard drive. So you'll only have one hard drive but it will be 160 GB which is fairly large compared to some they offer these days. So as long as you don't over do the games you'll be sitting good for awhile. So here are the new specs for your computer:

    Dell Dimension 8100
    Pentium 4 - 1.3 GHz
128MB RAM - Can be expanded up to 2 GB
    256 KB Cache
160 GB Hard Drive - Brand new
    Linksys 10/100 Ethernet Card
ATI Radeon 9550 Pro 128 MB - Used
    Generic PS2 Keyboard/Mouse - Brand new
    Samsung DVD Drive (Read Only)
    NEC CD-RW Drive (Read/Write)
    Dell E772c 15" Monitor
Creative Labs Audigy SE Sound Card - Brand new
Altec Lansing Speakers - Brand new
    Headphones
    Windows XP Home (SP2)
    Cyberlink PowerDVD Decoding Software
    Various Internet Software (Firefox, Thunderbird)
Various Graphics Software (Paint Shop Pro)
    DVD/CD Software (Roxio v6)

Oh yeah, I just through in alittle bonus card for you to Carl. An ATI 9550 Pro 128MB video card. That should play any Sid Meier game that you want to play.

DS, if you don't think that card is good enough then just send it back.

The problem won't be the card, it will be the storage space. Some games eat up a lot of hard drive space. You need to check the requirement on the bottom of the game box before you install any games especially on a computer that is essentially 6 years old in technology.

Seagate might be a problem where it won't work well with the smaller WD drive, so I may just remove the smaller drive and use only the Seagate. I have another source I'm talking to today so the fat lady hasn't sung yet. A simply jump from 6 GB to 40 GB is at least 6 months to a year and compatibility becomes an issue. They always tell you anything works but "they" are usually the ones that you can't understand on the phone.

At least I've been doing this for 15+ years and computers for 25+ years. You might be in a hurry for this Carl but patience is a virtue and has it's rewards.

It may not just be you... the board has been acting a little funny the last few days. I get hesitation when I try to reply or at least when I hit the reply button it hesitates. Could be the Internet or could be the board. Hard to say.
