I haven’t watched this movie in years. I don’t remember it. I recently read reviews about it which were mixed. I don’t necessarily put stock in reviews. The negative reviews seemed to be the movie was more of a soap opera and disconnected. And that John Wayne didn’t have much screen time. Again, I have read negative reviews before and found them completely wrong. I will watch it again and see.

Love The Alamo. As a young kid would play with my friends re-enacting the battle scene of the final fall of the mission. Back then Davy Crockett was all the rage so it was easy to gear up. Strangely in our playing of the Alamo I don’t remember Crockett ever dying!

I watched True Grit again looking for Brimley. Didn’t see him. Maybe he was an extra in one of the crowd scenes like at the public hanging.

Can anyone identify where he is in True Grit? I don’t recall him in any scene at all.

Loved Jimmy Stewart’s long hair look in the movie though! Different for him.

I’m not really a fan of this movie for various reasons I won’t go into here. Of course, I love seeing the Duke but I have a pet peeve with his casting as Sherman- he’s too tall for the role. Wayne was 6’4” - and Sherman was only 5’11.” Next to Harry Morgan as Grant the height difference looks ridiculous. I suppose John Q. Public wouldn’t know any better anyway.

Ben was the ultimate father figure. Gotta go with Hoss as the favorite son. Always loved the antics between the sons!

Awesome. Great actor. God bless him for his service.

I can’t say it any better than what Mr. Wayne said. I am a proud American and a veteran. I love my country-but I fear my government!

The Dirty Dozen- with a great cast of stars well known to all here I’m sure-but in the lead role Lee Marvin.

Thank you! Honor to be here. Sorry it took so long to find this wonderful site but at least I made it!

Elvis didn’t have nothing on those sideburns!
Having spent a lifetime watching John Wayne movies and then seeing this one for the first time was a bit of a culture shock-but a pleasant one. Who would have thought he could have pulled off playing the role of a pharmacist? But he did! Quite well I thought. -
Wow! I just saw this movie a month ago for the first time. I was completely blown away. I have highly recommended it to some of my “casual” Duke fans. Well done story- light touch with good ending. And he was so handsome!
