    Arthur,

It never ceases to amaze me how things pop in here that relate to something that happened to me recently.

For example, just last week, we watched The Red Badge of Courage, and I have a very clear memory of the character of Jim Conklin, especially the death of his character.

    Mrs. C :angel1:

  • Hi Sue

I particularly liked The Red Badge of Courage, and thought it was a pity that it was so short.

For anyone interested in learning more about the trials and tribulations Huston had in making that film and his battles with MGM there is a good book called PICTURE by Lillian Ross first published in 1953 by Victor Gollancz and re-issued in paperback in 1986 by Andre Deutsch Limited printed in Great Britain by Ebenezer Baylis and sons Ltd Worcester.

1 year ago On this Day saw the first light of day. It baffles me where the year has gone and I think I have almost achieved what I set out to do. By hook and sometimes by crook I managed to put an item in for every day albeit if it only contained one minor actor but I suppose they all count.

This should have been the last entry but at the beginning I didn't used IBMD so perhaps I may let it drift on until its reaches its natural conclusion.

The future? When Kevin's proposed newsletter gets off the ground I may be able to do a film star or film of the month, I don't know (and with 2,500 names to choose from even with my maths this topic could go on for the next 208 years, ^^

    but I jest honest

My Very Regards to all who have contributed over the year.

  • Hi Arthur,
Indeed it should be the other way around,

My best regards to yourself, for all the contributions, that you have made.
It's been a fascinating topic, and one, I am sure, all our regulars, read.
Points are picked up, and memories jogged.
Only last month, you mentioned, Robert North Bradbury,
and from that hint,it prompted me to post a biog on him.
and now the 'Pals of the Saddle', is born.
You mentioned Carl Pierson, which prompted me to post a Monogram link.
Today you mention Mae Marsh, and she is also featured as 'Pal'
and those of you, who are interested in her, here is a link to that thread:-

    http://www.dukewayne.com/index.php?act=ST&...st=0#entry24586

So, to sum up, 'On the Day, may be about the past,
but it is also, the future of the board,
as inspiration, comes from those long lost, you often mention,
and those, long lost, are why we are all here!

    My best wishes,

    Best Wishes
