Rodney King died.

Considering how many people suffered because of Rodney's actions, I'm not to sure he will be missed very much.Chester

No, but he made a mark in history. And some of it was the blame of the LAPD. Sorry guys, but professionalism is professionalism. And I do support our law enforcement agencies, but not in the brutality they showed that night. That is not what we are. And I know he may deserved that, but that is not their place. Anyway, for a man who had the problems he had, I hope he can rest in peace. Rodney King.

Did anyone here except for me see the entire video? I saw what caused the Police to take action against king. The vidoe starts from a window viewpoint and the chase was moving from Right to left across the screen. The chase was taped starting at several blocks distance and clearly king should have stopped the car. After stopping, king at first refused to get out then when he finally did, made threatening gestures towards the police such as clenching fists (which anyone with any common sense would realize that he intended on fighting) as well as flailing both arms motioning the police to "just try it"
Now before I get my head chopped off for saying this--I also want to say that yes--the Police DID go too far BUT--were justified in trying to end the situation to begin with as well as to protect themselves.
Also, has it occurred to anyone that this full thing COULD have been some kind of a set-up? What I mean is-is that someone causing a situation and the video-photographer just "happened" to be taping a common occurrence (meaning the police stopping a car) but for some reason, someone decided to tape a car chase. That sounds a bit fishy to me.
Anyway, they made a drug seller as well as addict--much much more wealthier. Had king stopped and not offered resistance--55 people would not have been killed, and hundreds of businesses would have survived.
