  • Just wondering if anyone else here is a Woody Strode fan? Reason I ask is because recently ive seen him in a couple of his best movies including: Spartacus, Pork Chop Hill, Sergeant Rutledge, The Professionals and of course, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and found that he always did his best in movies and I think he is very underrated.

Anyway, im trying for a complete set of Pork Chop Hill lobby cards and a few of them feature him in good scenes along with of course-Gregory Peck.

What are your favorite films with Strode in them?

Yes, Carl, come to think of it, he only made one starring film with Duke,
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
and apparently appearing, uncredited in Stagecoach
and so I never got round to compiling
a 'Pals Of The Saddle' profile on him!!

  • Strode was also in The Last Voyage and was very good in that role. I thought he was at his very best in Sergeant Rutledge. He was the central character, it was about him and he made the most of it.

  • Thank Jim
Indeed he was, as Hank Lawson.
Having not profiled him, I hadn't checked through it all.

    P.S.
I have now profiled him, and will eventually merge
this thread into the dedicated 'Pals' one.
